Divine Blood is my sci-fantasy/urban fantasy setting. It started as a massive crossover fanfic until someone pointed out to me that the majority of the setting and metaphysics were original, the majority of the characters were mine, the stuff that wasn't mine had been changed significantly enough that it might as well have been and noted I could do it as its own thing. So, after a year of planning and rewriting the first novel came out followed by 9 shorts. Currently working on an RPG supplement and want five more shorts before moving on to novel 2.

Of course, I have two other novels in front of it in queue.

Soldier or thug sound closest, those can mostly just do what they are told  and soldiers get to use big weapons with lots of fire power.

Yep. Or pilot robot vehicles. Not sure that would be Dresden's thing though. But I see him getting as far from magic as possible so definitely not playing a God, Demon or other nonhuman character.

And yes, the setting has Gods, Demons and mecha.

I can see Harry playing a mecha pilot mostly for the sheer geekness of it (Mecha are pretty cool) and because it's soething he could never do IRL, but it wouldn't be his first choice. Also your right abut him getting as far as possible from magic or at least spell casting, to much like his day job and he has had to many dealings with the more unpleasant sorts of Gods and Demons as well as non-humans (Like Nicky and the Nickleheads, Various Vampire courts and Winter Fae) to play one.

Indeed, though I could see him commiserating a little bit with Lilitu, Demoness of Smoke.  

Lilitu: "A simple training trip on overseeing natural disasters so they don't go world-ending turns into a fight against a nameless thing without any rakshasha(military) support.  I end up in Gehenna (hospital) for three months.  Go out on light duty to help Moloch babysit Hel for a little bit while she goes to high school...and then Magni and Modi try to 'rescue' her back to Nirvana.  Followed by Lady Nike Tinia trying to kidnap her for Creator knows what purposes, but probably Zeus related, and a bunch of humans kidnapping the whole airplane full of high school students including three demigods that Hel neglected to tell us about.  So now...I'm back in the hospital again."

Harry: "Yeah, you get used to it."
