Woo! I like this one- it was fun to do. It was meant to just be a doodle so I could just practice drawing teh breed, but...

This piece was done for a charity I want to start in my school. An organization came and spoke to us, and they inspired me to help out.

It's about land mines. In many countries across the world, when wars are raged, armies will hide land mines near schools and playgrounds so the children will get hurt because their aim is to kill the next generation. But when the wars end, the land mines are still there, still active. Thousands of children step on these mines, and the ones who survive are crippled.

That's where the Land mine dogs come in. They sniff out the mines so the children can be safe. The organization is called the Marshall Legacy Institute, and they train land mine dogs so they can be sent to countries in need.

To sponsor a dog costs 20,000 U.S. dollars. My teacher and I want to raise the money. One of the things I want to do is sell some art online or at school. I'm trying to figure out the dA print system. I'm going to call the art sale A.C.E., or Art for Children of the East, as most affected countries are in the eastern hemisphere.

I named it "One Chance" because this is the one chance many children have to survive. One land mine dog can help prevent death or injury to thousands of children. I want to help train that dog. My school will get to name the dog if we succeed in raising the money, and I want to name it Ace or Chance. c: If we don't raise enough money, what we did make will go to help the medical needs of the already crippled children.

I'm not sure whether or not to sell this, but I might, and sell prints of it too. What do you guys think? : o
