Description Pen and ink.

Refered from a Dracula promotion still (Bela Lugosi as Dracula). I like the gay ambiguity of the pose. "Oh, Master! Master!" XD

Just needed draw this to add as filler to my 'hobby' ashcan mini-comic 'Count Enance'. Near the end of the comic are a couple empty pages I need to fill with doodles.

Always been afraid to show my luv of Classic Vampires, especially since the damn vampire craze these days *bleh* But I've liked them since I was a kid and was always dressed as Dracula on Halloween for Trick-o-Treating. When I got too old for that, I spent the Halloween evening at home watching Dracula marathons on TV like the Hammer films.

Dracula/Vampire movie versions I enjoy:

**JUST BECAUSE A MOVIE ISN'T LISTED DOES NOT MEAN I HAVE NOT SEEN IT. SO IF IT ISN'T LISTED, I DON'T CARE FOR IT.**

-Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (Meier Link. First time I saw him, I gasped, and I got to see it in a theature!).
-Shadow of the Vampire (Willem Dafoe. Ugly ass vampire, but great acting, such a cool movie overall)
-Dracula (1931, Bela Lugosi. The only one with true aurora on screen. So terrible it became his curse)
-Christopher Lee's Dracula (Hammer Films)
-Dracula (Jack Palance. 1974 TV Movie. Seeing this Dracula version with such range of emotions made me rent the VHS over and over as a kid)
-Love At First Bite (George Hamilton, a cute sensitive Dracula)
-Blacula (William Marshall. Holey Crap, his voice is so neat!)
-The Hunger (David Bowie)
-Andy Warhol's Dracula (Udo Kier. Also known as Blood for Dracula)
-The Addiction (Christopher Walken. I only watched 'cause it had Walken as a vampire).
-Monster Squad (Duncan Regehr. I only watched that movie as a kid just to see that Dracula version...especially the sledgehammer scene >///<
-Don Dracula (an Osamu Tezuka character from his manga of same name. Also made into a short anime series. So cute! Reminds me of a kitty).

Thanks for lookin'! ^_^

Have any of you seen "Return of the Vampire" from 1944?  Lugosi plays a vampire again (named Tesla!), and there's a pretty strong subtext between him and his werewolf minion.

No, I have not yet. There are many movies of his I have yet to see, but I kinda have a preference to see him when he was younger since there are movies of him as such that are not subtitled or not available to watch (from his silent movie days). I would love to see those old Hungarian films of his.
I do like him in "Mark of the Vampire" (1935), but I wish they kept the original ending rather than the comedic one.

Me, too.  I really wish that movie had been made as it was intended... damn censorship.

I thought the original incestual overtones would have been interesting too, but Lugosi and his protege (the younger female vampire) both felt uncomfortable with that plot, so some things were changed in the script. I respect their preferences, but I can't help wondering what could have been.

This pic dose look gay now that I really look at it. But also pretty sexy in an odd way. It sort of shows that not even the men could keep there hands off of bela lugosi. And I don't blame them for that. <3

The use of solid black for their attire and sharp expression is very well executed.

I'm surprised Roman Polanki's Fearless Vampire Killers (or Pardon Me, But I Believe Your Fangs Are In My Neck) didn't make the list. I always thought the Jewish peasant vampire was an interesting divergence from the classic vampire: crosses don't work and half his natural life was spent eating garlic, so the stuff doesn't affect him now.

Amazing work as always, you always manage to put such presence in your pieces, Lugosi was a legend. He was buried in the dracula cape did you know?
Vampire hunter D Bloodlust is fantastic, ohh you got to see it in a theatre? is so jealous. Have you read the novels? They're brilliant, espescially with Amanos' illustrations.

*_* This is so...gorgeous. Good work on the dramatic shadowing/lighting. I love the Lugosi-Dracula's expression! I don't actually see Renfield drawn much but this is really good. Plus, the way he's trying to endear himself to Dracula illustrates their relationship rather well and their personalities pull through excellently!

Any chance there will be Van Helsing or Doctor Seward at some point?

And I noticed there's no mention of the 1992 movie Bram Stoker's Dracula. While I don't particularly care for the 1992 movie's hollywood-like love story or the overly sexualization of the women, most of the cast were rather good I thought. Or at least maybe just Anthony Hopkins and Richard E. Grant...(I may be biased.)

Well, I love bella, he was such a charmer XD Saw this documentary about him, he was constantly in character, and practically wooing the female interviewer while at it XD
