Description Yeah, because studies aren't enough work, ya know.

Lemme present ya'll PaleoPlayground. Placeholder name, but we may as well keep it. It's a dino survival game in which the main goal is to... Survive (wow), but it's also an adventure and survival game. The map we're currently working on is medium sized and has a complex system of underground caves and even.. Temples, leaving the player to discover what's hidden in there. We worked hard to get good game mechanics, as the main goal is also to have a good PvP experience, that is not 100% realistic, but offers to the player a whole bunch of possibilities for their hunting sessions and survival.

Mechanics such as tree climbing, ledge climbing, pouncing, for the raptor you see here, for instance. The goal is to make every species unique and with unique abilities. The game is very early pre alpha, but is already playable and rather stable. Of course, there are bugs. But we fix them, as often as possible.

I've mostly worked on the online aspects of this game, along with the graphics, shaders, textures, map, GUI, etc; while my friend, , has focused on the playable characters and the gameplay in general, the AI, and gameplay logic, certain effects such as the weather, lightnings, etc. We do share the work. It's just been like this for now. This little baby's developement started around January, and has been up to several updates since then.

If you have any interest for this game, you can read more about it on our website: paleo-playground.com/
If you're willing to help in this game's developement, by testing it and providing feedback, you're very welcome here: discord.gg/fn99gRS

I will do a more detailed post about it later.

Future plans are that I'll make a new velociraptor 3D model, and a new Utah Raptor 3D model, along with dino assets; for now.

PS: The "blurryness" of those trees from afar is normal. The closer you are, the more detailed they are. It's called LODs (Level Of Details), and is a key thing in a game's optimization.

I think the shot present looks great but I'm noticing a seemingly over-abundant appearance of dinosaur games in the last 5 years or so. Such as Ark: Survival Evolved, The Isle, Primal Carnage and Saurian to name a few; as much as I like dinosaurs it gets really hard to tell them apart, similarly to the zombie survival craze that happened too.

Though again I don't htink your work should be discredited. I just think it's a little hard to tell them apart nowadays.

Well, the game changed quite a lot since this screenshot that I consider now as "old". I know where you're coming from with this. As far as I know, all the games you mentionned use the game engine called Unreal Engine, and it gives this "impression" on the first place. Of course, it can be changed by changing the texture style and shaders behavior. The current dinosaur you see here is also placeholder and we wish to replace all of them at some points, when fundings will allow us to do so. I'm a 3D artist on the first place, and working on this game is a new experience for me, though I am not focusing on the 3D part for now (even though I've worked on those graphics a whole lot), but actually the coding itself. Once I get more free time, reworking the overall game's look is a goal.

Let me link to you a few recent screenshots of the game:

I think Unreal Engine 4 has some post processing already applied to the game's camera. I come from the Unity engine side of things and you need to manually add post processing to the camera.

You're a coder? Wow that's impressive; I find coding to be very difficult.

Those screenshots don't look too bad. Best of luck!

It does and we already use it actually. By overall game look, I am thinking about the textures themselves.

I find coding fun, also use it as a 3d artist, mostly for my rigs.
Thank you!
