A small piece I made last night while reading the newest installments of Gothic Charm School [link]Portraying the Lady of the Manners rendered in my own style, inked with felt tip pen, and coloured with pencils for that softer look.

This has a very soft look, despite the harsh look of the character.

It does? hmm... think you're right. Might be the work of the pencils. They tend to make the pictures softer to look at. Actually love those old photographs where the photographer painted in eye, hair and skin tones on their initially sepia toned portraits. Might've been a subconcious source of inspiration.

You haven't? Huh... guess that is one of the tidbits of information I've sucked up from somewhere (and taken for granted others knows of too).
Heh... though they used watercolour to paint the eyes, mouth, hair, and whatnot, people who commissioned the colouring of said photos had to get things right themselves. Mistakes could not be corrected.
A common mistake was to give a brown-eyed girl blue eyes. An error which often meant quarrels amongst couples who'd spent large sums on one piece of chemicalized paper.
Oh, the most common colours used were blue, green, brown and red.

I think this work is just amazing! Beautiful! I especially like her face and her lips! But everything is just perfect.

Still, yeah. Background could've been better made.
But considering the lady was done right after 1am, and I was beyond exhausted at that point, a hasty, wishy-washy background (which looks much better on the original) was all my brain could muster at that time.

Oh lovely! I'm sure she would be most pleased with this rendering of her self. I personally always she her cradling a cupcake, looking absolutely gothtastic in a board meeting, simply because the idea of her having a desk job amuses me so.

Hehehe... Truth to be told; I too imagined her in a similar manner, but ended up like this once I began drawing.
