Nica grew up with her grandmother Shizu in a remote village far from her parents and family, where she stayed until she was 17.

On the day Nica was born, there was a rain of falling stars, so that's what they named her; "Nica", in her mother's people's ancient language, means "rain of stars" or "falling star".
Shortly after her birth, her mother became very ill and weak, and lost the ability to take care of Nica herself. So what her parents did was send her to her grandmother Shizu. Here, she stayed until she was 7, when her parents could finally take her back. However, since Shizu didn't speak the same language as the parents (even though Nica's mother could speak it), Nica had to either re-learn how to speak or move back. And since the parents didn't have the funds to get yet another child into school, they sent her back to her grandmother. There, she learnt how to cook and bake, how to take care of a garden, how to wash clothes and clean, along with a lot of other things that would come in handy later. Once Nica reached the age of 12, her parents finally had the money to get her some language education. But Nica didn't want to go back. She had grown up here, so this was more like a home to her than her parent's house was ever going to be. This was, at first, a big problem, but once they got to talk to the teacher he said it was no problem for him to just go out and live with them, since he had relatives of his own that lived near where Nica and Shizu lived. So that's what he did; he came to live with them.

For the first few months the teacher, named Cal, lived in a small cabin that belonged to his great-grandparents. It was all good until winter came. Winters around these parts were very, very cold and plenty of people died, so both Shizu and Nica insisted that he's come stay with them. And so he did. For 5 years they were together studying language and teaching each other their respective languages. By now, she knew a lot of the language that was spoken on all four main continents and was ready to go on into the world.

After a bit of thinking, she decided to move to a bigger town. A military town. This was where she met Roy, a boy who was a little older than her. She fell the moment she lied eyes on him. At the time, she had never been in love with anyone, so the feeling was very foreign and scary, but lucky her Roy made the first move. Now all she had to do was like Shizu had told her; follow your heart. This led to a long-lasting relationship. After about a year, they bought a house together. It was also around this time Roy and his friend Aiross applied to a military training camp for civilians. At first, Nica hated the idea as she wasn't a fan of violence, but as it drew closer to the camp's start, she started supporting it more and more. Aiross' lover, Dinah, and Nica became very good friends during the first year of the camp and soon, she became pregnant. This was only possible because the men with wives were allowed to return home for one night a week. Soon, Nica had grown jealous of Dinah and wanted a child of her own. So Nica and Roy tried. And tried. And tried. But to no avail. It wasn't working.

10 years later, Roy and Nica found an abandoned child. A girl, to be more precise. At the time, they were a bit unsure if they should take her in, but at the same time they couldn't just leave a new born child just like that. So they decided to take her in and name her Nikita. 7 years after they took her in, two boys, both about Nikita's age, knocked on the door, asking for food. Neither Roy or Nica could say no, so they gave them food. Another few years after the boys had moved in, it knocked on the door. Two boys, one a little older than the other stood in the door opening, asking for help with a broken bone. Both Roy and Nica knew exactly who they were as they had met plenty of times before. Aiden and Kion.
