my first one was Death Note, and you should TOTALLY watch it. i think it's the best anime/manga i've watched/read so far, gosh it's so freaking good.
but it's kind of more serious than soul eater even though both are shounen.
another good anime that has a soul eatery style is fullmetal alchemist brotherhood, you will like it (:
