It was thanks to a small image of a bat (which turned out to be Shade) and then another image of Shade fighting an owl (Brutus).
It caught my interest but I couldn't find where it came from. So, by pure luck, I saw someone drawing the characters here in dA and found out where it came from.
That's where I began to watch the show (the first episode I saw was Not Everything is Black and White, the one of the albino bear). After that, I wanted to know more so I bought the first book (which was a pain to get XD).
I loved the book and bought the rest up to Darkwing which I finished reading months ago
