This my part of an art trade with KiraCastle , who was such a sweetheart and prolonged my premiumship.She asked for a sad/morbid child and hey, that I can do. c-:
In former times, some women were forced to birth and kill their illegitimate newborns in secretΒ to protect themselves from persecution.
According to Finnish/Scandinavian folklore, the souls of these children born in secret, killed in secret and buried in secret were unableΒ to
move on unless they persuaded someone to give them a proper burial. The Finnish name for such a ghost is ihtiriekko, which refers
to an old Finnish/Karelian belief that birds can home souls and carry them to the afterlife. Ihtiriekko was said to haunt the place of its death
or the house of its killers.

Thats actually an interesting piece of information I didn't know... makes me think of multiple situations for the image.
*sigh* your style is so cool...This reminds me of Mucha the way you have the outline probably also because the format too though, but then with your own everything else, your stuff is very impressive.

I don't know how many people actually are familiar with Finnish folklore,
in Finland as well as abroad. We're somewhat tiny culture.
I personally think it's extremely interesting to see howΒ the tales and
legends here mix the beliefs of our neighboring countries in both east and west
(plus how those beliefs fit together with Christianity). c-:
