wooow!
totally gobsmacked when I read it was a manip.. I thught it was all handmade on a needlework circley thingy..
seriously hugetastic props on this.. it looks thuper delightful.
tolkienesque somehow.

how big is the source? if its big enough (and imho make the bg (everything outside of the circle) white) I'm gonna chuck up a print request.

Wow, your compliments are much appreciated! It's an old piece that popped back up because I submitted it as a print The bg is staying for now (white circular matte dear?) mainly because I wanted an old woodern innards of a diving bell feel.
10"x10" big enough?

thppt [2004-11-05 23:01:41 +0000 UTC]

It looks so much like a traditional collage. the ink must have been blown by straw. I love the detail of the net and how it fades to black. The fish reminds me of a lion fish.. i think that is what theyare.. someone told me that they are poisinous to the touch.

tiinateaspoon In reply to thppt [2004-11-19 00:37:20 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for the perceptive comment. You're right, it is almost a traditional collage All the pieces were made by hand, I used photoshop as the 'glue'. The ink was an accident! Leftovers from my airbrush on scrap paper.

I really like this piece ot reminds me of one of those really old photos of mars, you know the ones with the "canals"? The white bit at the bottom looks like one of the poles, so good

I agree any way of seeing the world differently is a good thing (I hope!)

I heard about a painter whose colour vision went, he was left in a b+w world. he still painted, but what was greyscale to him was all the colours of the rainbow to his audience... and something else wot I forgot

WOW INTERESTING CONCEPT MAKES YOU WONDER WHAT IT'D BE LIKE TO DO A DRAWING (WELL THE COLOURING) WITH REALLY DARK SUN GLASSES ON OR THOSE RED FILTER GLASSES YOU HAVE TO WEAR ON THE SUN BED.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tiinateaspoon In reply to GMintyfresh [2004-09-09 14:58:00 +0000 UTC]

I sometimes paint without my glasses on, so everything looks really blurry

Sun bed goggles never tried them

I've tried a little bit with paints that glow under uv, tis fun

You want critique, but there is nothing to pick apart! It is now residing on my desktop (hope you don't mind, let me know and I'll remove it). This is the kind of stuff I eat up! It is awesome, I'm sure that there will be those that can find something, but without REALLY studying it, I really can't find anything about it that I think can be improved.

Good Job!

I think the circle an contents look like they could be a needle point collage. Very interesting idea to me. The tortoiseshell background would be fine if you added something to it out side of the circle. Needle and thread, pen, knife, something relevent to the over all content of the work. Tie the two together and see what happens. XOXO
