In case of Central Powers' victory, I was always curious if Belgium would remain in one piece, if King Albert indeed joined Central Powers and let German army go through without any resistance, exactly like Wilhelm hoped he would (he gave him that chance, as a fellow monarch, but knew it's unlikely).

I guess they would be protectorate under German control anyway.

I don't know if I interprate your google translated words correctly but no, I won't rename it because this is what the West called Belarus at the time.

Reading your previous comments: no need to worry about cossack, it was a seal, not coat of arms. Also combination of state and personal arms reminds me of emblem used by Hetmanate supporters in emigration, although it was composed differently: www.hai-nyzhnyk.in.ua/photo/20…

That looks realy nice! Is this the embleme of the supporters of the Hetmanate? I think I read some where that they founded a government in exile after WWI.

Yes, an emblem of Union of Hetmanists-Statists (not sure if I've translated correctly). They didn't have goverment in exile (only republicans did), and it was something between party and support group.

That of the House of Habsburg. The Central Powers (originaly) intended for Archduke Charles Albert or his son to become king of Poland.

I thought Saxony was going to enter a personal union with them?

TiltschMaster In reply to SausageSpirit [2016-02-29 02:01:59 +0000 UTC]

The initial plan that was heavily supported by Emperor Francis and the Germans was a polish branch of the Habsburgs. That plan only got crushed by the accension of Charles to the throne - who was very much opposed to that idea becuase he wanted to become King of Poland himself. In 1916 Germany also began to oppose the plan but Saxony's candidacy was only one of several. Bavaria and WΓΌrttemberg also had candidates ready and waiting to take the throne of Poland.Β

But I stuck with the Habsburgs just for fun Β

I don't know what was in the German generals' minds, but Why would they not have Lithuania and Latvia make up the United Baltic Duchy, and instead Estonia be independent or be united with Finland?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TiltschMaster In reply to FlagArmadaProductns [2016-02-25 10:23:13 +0000 UTC]

Ethnic reasons. The Baltic Germans were mostly concentrated in the former lands of the Teutonic Order but Lithuania, being either independent or part of Poland during the times of German settlement had no such German minority. The Baltic Duchy after all was part of the German Imperial concept of Lebensraum. Less radical then that of Nazi Germany, but still. They intended the Duchy to be ruled by the Baltic Germans and so they picked the lands where those guys lived

But honestly: I chose this design so I didn't have to recreate the Cossack in the original version becuase that bugger is too complicated to drawΒ Β
