Description
This is the sculpt I did for the top of the "BEST DRESSED" Hugo Award. I'm working with the very talented photographer Kyle Cassidy on this project and it's been a great experience. He is putting everything together, my sculpt, another artist to do the base and a costumer to make a little dress for the robot to carry (it's like the poster for Forbidden Planet where Robby carries Ann Frances, our Robby will just be carrying her dress
it's 4.5 inches tall, resin.

So this is for the actual Hugo awards... :faints: I didn't realize I had entered the realm of behind the scenes Hollywood.
Well done... I thought I recognized that robot in my deviantwatch. *smiles* I hope you will show a pix of how it all looks with the dress and all.

fun huh? I was really happy to get the chance of working on this. Kyle will send me final pics of the trophy when the others get done (dress maker, wood work and brass plaque)

Thank you, I tried to machine the pieces instead of sculpting them. Tho I used very simple techniques

Nicely done, I've always like Robby and though you say you're using simple machining techniques it looks very polished and quite wonderful.

awww, thank you very much. I put in lots of time with fine grained sand paper to get things smooth and sharp edged (so hard with clay but easyer with resin)

Thanks, it's pretty simple tho, brown primer paint... an alcohol wash with dark sepia to get into those little cracks and finally a dry brush with bright gold (very lightly)
