If the titanic were to be in that state and if she really was raised, after the celebrations, a moment of silence followed by this song playing: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bq54jb…

she'll crumble like sand in their hands.

the film was actually based on a Book By Clive Cussler. i say "based" because much of the detail from the book was left out.

Aye, I've read it, it's a fantastic book but unfortunatly most of the good stuff like the initial hunt for Bizanium and the battle for the Titanic was left out which I was disapointed with.
I think the film would've done much better if they had these parts in it. It was probably in the original script but due to a mess up with the budget they had to cut them. (The mess up being that when they made the impressive Titanic model they then found out they didn't have a tank big enough to house it, so they had to spend another couple of million dollars building another tank, which ate into the budget.) Thats my theory at least. Or maybe it was always like that and the characters in the film were originally that flant to begin with.

plus if that movie was successful, that titanic model would have been in the Guinness world records for: "Largest, Most detailed whole-hulled Titanic model on Earth" and would have wound up as part of R.M.S Titanic Inc's collection.

It still should've been (though it had a few modifications like the vents holding the mast up), someone should've called it. Unfortunately Cameron's 1995 Titanic movie had a larger model.

I look forward to seeing more. Oh and just to tell you is that I'm leaving you and in charge of the Wreck of the Titanic in my RTT one and of course you'll be needed when I reach the sinking scene of Titanic.

and btw, I you're sketches are brilliant for they slightly remind me of Ken Marchells art work of Titanic and other ships.

Aye, I agree, the pressures and strain the wreck would go under while coming back up would ultimatly rip her apart.

Also, if the bags were to come loose while raising her, the wreck would crumble to pieces all the way back down.

I don't think the wreck would crumble, she's in a much better state then previously thought, though considerably weaker then when she landed back in 1912. I imagine if the bags came loose close to the surfae and the bow fell back to bottom it'll probably collapse upon impact.

The steel of the hull, yes, but the wood has seriously rotted away after 100 years, so it would be possible, the wreck was lifted up some and then dropped, the deteriorated wood might come apart and the iron plates might just fall flat.

hmm. Good point mate. I guess it would depend how you raise it, raising it like they did in the movie would probably compress the hull and cause the wooden decks to collapse, like you said.
I've read up on ideas people had of raising the ship, some are pretty good but unfortunatly massively expensive to pull off. Plus given that some portons of the wreck would start to float quicker depending on how you distribute the ballast and the material you used to raise it might put a lot of stress on the hull. In that case you'd have to bring it up very slowly or risk tearing the ship apart.

Yup, and some people used to say it would be easier to lower the Atlantic.

this would be impossible, her hull is too badly damaged for this to work

Not to mention that the pressure down there is what's helping keep the ship together. Even though the ship has started to collapse.

there have been attempts to raise Titanic. 11 in fact actually. All those attempts failed though.

Sadly no. since the attempts failed, they weren't documented on what the attempts were.

Sorry mate, but I'm not buying someone actually tried to raise the wreck, maybe if it was still in one piece there might've been a chance and someone would've had a go. But I heightly doubt someone attempted it with the Titanic in that state.
