Description I told a lot of people at the Chicago Con to have more fun with their art and play more.

Sometimes i forget to play.

Thats what this is.

A explorer character for my Dark Belt universe. which is always expanding. I make up Dark Belt characters and their stories all the time, i just don't post em. But i will post this guy, i just won't tell you his story.

Enjoy none the less.

Playing is always fun, and it certainly worked out well in this pic. It's very creative and yet very refined.

Your inks are too frakkin' good, I think someone previously mentioned in the comments that it is a very "Sam Keith" style, which is very true! But of course, with your own funky twist.

Awesome character design, I can only hope he is some kind of awesome anteater?

absolutely... looking forward to it.

This is the bad guy I was telling you about: [link]

He feeds on life-force instead of blood... but has no problem shedding blood whenever the situation calls for it, and the situation calls for it ...a lot.

Didja recover from Comicon okay?

I remember no such thing. But it's all a pretty big blur-- but I do recall a snazzy sheet of white sketch paper I bummed off of you.

No pressure no rush... when you have time, let your imagination take you where it wants to go. He could be all boney, or skinny, or muscular like in the pic, or even all bloated hulk-like after he gorges on massive amounts of life-force. I think you would do an awesome looking bloated Blaqueheart. Boney or Bloated, it's all good really. Please have fun, and when you have time, send me a pic of your female lead.

Have fun at GenCon!

The explorer can best be describes as a species of living tongues. They are an inquisitive race who long to examine all of life's tactile possibilities. Although they are mainly a group that searches for knowledge they can easily handle themselves against the galaxies more unscrupulous travelers. Here we can see an explorer on the search for trilidium, a form of silk known for its rarity and tart taste.

nice!

Jana was like, "who is he calling on his cell phone?"

"no, it's a homing device."

"what's he homing for?"

"ummmmm...."

"It's probably the location to a cave where he can find some food and sleep in jelly."

It would be sweet if phone companies made scifi/steam punk styled cell phones. No more sleek slices of titanium, I want one with a odd glowing screen and a weird blinking antenna.

dude, it takes alot for me to say this. but you are everything thats good about what sam kieth used to be.

i know, i know. blasphemy. but the dude stopped drawing this good a long time ago.

its just nice to see someone keeping up the bad ass tradition of heavy loose inks and muscle bound weirdness.

keep fuckn rockn.

i think Sam has really matured in his art and evolved as an artist. the guy is leaps and bounds ahead of himself. he is going into some pretty amazing territory, its not for everyone, and he gets that a lot. but in my opinion he has done all that old stuff before, and lots of it. i think it would be terrible for an artist to just stick with what the fans like and not delve into your self as you grow. its really what happens. so yeah, you really don't have to like his newer stuff, but just respect that its better for him to be doing his what he loves, being an artist.

cheers! and thanks for the wonderful compliment man, really means a lot.

oh, what i was saying earlier, is basically why i don't follow jim lees stuff since mid ninties. its the same. he never really evolved too much. and so i feel like i see the same stuff. and i like to check out new things.

hey man, no prob for the compliment, well deserved.
i get what your saying and i enjoy watching an artist evolves as much as the next fan... but.
i dont know. sam's always been the bee's knee's for me. biggest inspiration ive ever had in my work. its just that lately everything he draws seems rushed and scratchy (batman lobo, for gods sake...). and i understand his whole evolution as an artist ala' what he was saying in the beginning of the legs one shot. but yeah. i just dont feel like hes got the passion for what he dose anymore.. im just waiting for him to prove me wrong is all, i guess.
at least in the mean time i can admire your style which has flares of kieth but can easily stand on its own. \m/

Read Ojo and my inner bimbo, both really great stories, which has become one of his strong suits. He writes real non linearly in both, which i love.

I think he is actually having more fun with his artwork more now than ever. and yeah, some does feel rushed, but thats what doing a whole series for DC will do. but he also does some stuff that is just damn impressive in those books.

Have you seen the Venom covers he did awhile back? they are awesome.

I dunno man, i still dig his stuff and love to look at his art. so i guess it ultimately just comes down to taste.
He will be the first one to agree with you on his art being no good. but don't listen to em.

ahahahahh i know, the only other person whos as mad at sam as me, is sam himself. the big sook
when he puts his all into it, im so impressed it blows my mind. the venom covers for example. the wolverine hulk series he did was fantastic too. its just hit and miss these days is all. tell you what though, im just waiting for the 'art of sam kieth' that should have been printed like 3 years ago. its a holy grail at this point.
in any case. its fair to say we both agree the mans a legend and im as interested as ever to see were he goes next.
