Description Hooray! Little fishies!

Now, what the heck is a chaud froid, you ask? Well, first off, it's pronounced "shoh frwah", and it's a French term meaning "hot-cold". Basically, it's something that was cooked at some point, and then served cold. The distinguishing feature of a chaud froid is that the food is glazed with aspic, which is allowed to set before serving.

Fish are made of carrots.
Coral is made of sliced ginger.
Seaweed is made of dill.
Sand is made of breadcrumbs.
Bubbles are made of mustard seeds.

This made me hate aspic more than I already hated it, but in the end, it came out cute! Tomorrow I will make sushi and use this chaud froid to present the sushi on!

Insane piece of work. It took me a moment to realize it was chaud froid rather than glazed ceramic. Very clever stuff.

I just have 1 question ... what is "chaud froid"? ( I know the literal french translation is "hot cold" )

You have the translation right. Basically, it's something that was cooked at some point, and then served cold. The distinguishing feature of a chaud froid is that the food is glazed with aspic, which is allowed to set before serving.
