Built in the early 26th century the MBT-1 (Main Battle Tank-1) was built to supply most of the GFS's members with a new generation tank capable of withstanding the condition of what was deemed the "average" battlefield condition (basically hell). The tank's main armament was built to fire the latest rounds of the era, and being armored with a special kind of armor to withstand and counter any form of current Anti-Tank weapon.
Designed with an unmanned, and remotely operated turret with the option of the tank to be fully unmanned, suspension high off the ground to provide better off road riding, as well as a simple, and somewhat cheap design, the MBT-1 was well liked by the crew, and simulations illustrating a promising effectiveness while on an active battlefield. The MBT-1's 2,500 micro electric engine was capable of propelling the tank at a modest speed of 60 mph off road while it's suspension provided a soft, and gentle ride for it's crew.
Training for the MBT-1 was not complex and a crew could be fully trained by at most half a year with the option of a more advance course. Once trained, crew members where suggested to form a "bond" with their assigned tank such as giving the tank a name, gender, and basically it's own identity, as in their minds the crew will see the tank as one of them, and take better care of it.
The MBT-1 was placed in service for the next 50 years with upgradtion, and modernization programs every 1 to 5 years. By 2535, around 100,000 where built being fielded on all GFS worlds except thous requiring a specialized vehicle.
