I have been looking through your gallery, and you have come far since then! (I wish I could say the same for my stuff...)
This looks pretty good, and I really like the colors.

I just started in Photoshop a while back, and I used Burn on this: [link]
I used Burn for shading, and I don't like how it came out, and one of the legs look really funny.
I tend to look at all someone does. I used to do it all the time back when I started here, and I'm doing it again, even though I watch a lot more people now than three years ago...

Yeah I agree with someone else on the page saying to use a bigger brush. I personally will usually set down a base color first, then use lighter and darker versions of the same color, set at different opacity's to get lights and shades. It looks a lot more natural I think. You also need to pick and stick with a consistent light source in a picture, that will help.

Hmmmm... thanks for the advice. I'll try to keep that in mind, because I use the same light source for everything I do with shading.
