Description
It was during one of the few and precious times when both Keith AND Rhythmi had some time off from their jobs at the Ranger Union; Rhythmi had decided to join Keith in visiting Alexa in Johto. Alexa had only expected Keith to visit, but she was perfectly happy to have Rhythmi over as well; after all, Alexa and Rhythmi do need to spend more time together, and Alexa was going to take every opportunity for it with both hands.

What followed was something not even Alexa had anticipated.

As promised before, Alexa escorted Keith and Rhythmi to New Bark Town, where Rhythmi could adopt a Pokémon from Professor Elm's laboratory to have for her coveted pet. In the end, Rhythmi fell in love with a lab-born Skitty she named Lula, while a Cutiefly ended up adopting Alexa as her new Trainer, even though Alexa wasn't looking to adopt a Pokémon for herself. With Lula's adoption complete, the friends left the laboratory before Alexa's surprise adoption happened to Keith.

On the trip back to Violet City, Rhythmi couldn't stop fussing over Lula; every meow the Skitty made caused Rhythmi to giggle, which instigated more fussing, thus making Lula meow more and thereby making Rhythmi giggle more - just an endless cycle of meows and laughter.

Keith and Alexa trailed behind the delighted Rhythmi, her over the top excitement over her brand new pet starting to concern the couple in differing ways, but confusing Keith's poor Buizel...

"You gonna tone it down soon?" Keith asked, unsure of how else to approach the situation. "We'll need to get through Cherrygrove yet, remember?"

"But she's SO CUTE!" Rhythmi squealed happily in response. "I knew there were cute Pokémon out there, but Skitty has to be the CUTEST one I've seen and I'm SO GLAD I found her!"

"Nyah~!" Lula mewed gleefully.

"I-I get it, but aren't you going overboard...?" Keith asked, nervously rubbing the back of his neck. "She's just a pet."

Alexa held her tongue and smiled rather bashfully; after all, she, too, had an excessive reaction after she caught Persephone back when she was a Flabébé, and it was FAR more over the top than Rhythmi's reaction to her new Skitty - heck, Alexa considered Rhythmi's reaction to be NORMAL in comparison to hers...

"What does it matter if she's 'just' a pet? The important thing is for the two of us to get along, and that's exactly what we're doing!"

Keith tried again to raise his concerns, but the meow-giggle cycle made its return, baffling the Buizel even more. Deciding to quit his efforts to calm the elated Rhythmi while he could, he sighed and stroked a thumb against Alexa's fingers.

"Do...do you think Skitty will be okay with Rhythmi?" Keith asked, in a voice low enough to avoid Rhythmi's detection.

"Uh...let's...let's just say that Lula knows what she's doing..."

Alexa was hesitant to tell Keith that Lula was, in fact, pulling the strings in the continuous loop; the Kitten Pokémon was smiling her most adorable smile, but the meows all translated to one thing - 'laugh'.

Cutiefly looked on with a look of passivity in her eyes; she was at the lab when Lula hatched from her egg, which was laid by a Delcatty who was brought into the lab after her Trainer abandoned her, and, therefore, knows Lula pretty much inside out - and knew that Alexa was right to be worried about how Rhythmi will handle Lula.
