Growing up in a small town near the city, Prudence didn't really know what she wanted to do with her life - she liked gardening as a child, but spending a season as a hired farmworker made her realize that life was not what she wanted for herself, and that gardening was more of a hobby. Like many a good-hearted strapping youth, she decided to join the town guard to try that out. A couple years later, however, she heard the call of the new goddess, Erame, who was in need of folk to help guard her new tower. Hoping that the new goddess of love might help her find her special someone, she set out to join them, but as the raucous party of her cultists outside grow louder and louder, and she watches folk try to earn their way to a higher position within the cult by passing strange tests, she is starting to have her doubts about whether this is really for her - and indeed, what kind of goddess Erame truly is.

But she's just a simple country girl acting as a guard. It isn't her place to ask such questions, right?
