"The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List classifies the tiger as endangered which means there is a high risk of tigers becoming extinct in the wild. While it is difficult to obtain accurate tiger population numbers, the World Wildlife Fund estimates there are only 3,200 tigers left in the wild. Of the nine different tiger sub species that were known to exist, the Bali, Caspian and Javan tigers are already classified as extinct while a fourth, the South China tiger, is considered to be extinct by many scientistics...."
