During his childhood, he spent his in his home country, while which his sister Elena was born, but was forced to move out as a result of the Saraxian Civil War. Moving to the 1st world country of Emrovia, the two's lives were better, but worse at the same time. His father Raymond was eventually hired as a welder while his mother stayed at home to take care of Ethan and Elena. The two siblings had a close friendship with each other as the two protected each other in this strange new world they were a part of, as they were then bullied by mammals due to reptiles being a minority in Emrovia.

As his father was a former wrestler, he pressured Ethan into becoming an athlete, particularly the more aggressive sports. Eventually in high school, Ethan found his true calling as a football player in Mildencove High School East Campus, while his sister became a soccer player. However, during his senior year in high school, Ethan was playing a game during the championship of his football career. His team ultimately won, but tragedy struck soon after. On their way home, They ended up getting mugged by a duo of wolves, tattooed with Cronex symbols as they wore black suits. Raymond ended up getting gunned down, while Ethan leaped forward and beat the supremacists down, almost even to near death until his sister and mother had to pull him away. Despite his fury, Raymond Maro was dead. This incident haunted Ethan, due to his father's death and his ferocity that made him almost a killer himself. As a result, Ethan quit the football team. After graduation however, he was drafted to the Emrovian Marine Corps, much to Ethan's surprise. He was hesitant at first, but then he realizes that this is what his father could've wanted, so he joined as he left his mother and sister behind.
  As he was training in the marines, he met a brown wolf named Heather Rayner, who he made friends with as he was put in the same group as her. Their personalities seemed to mesh well with each other, and so they formed a bond that Ethan hasn't felt before. He actually felt companionship, and a sort of brother/sisterly love that he hasn't felt since Raymond died and he nearly beat those muggers to death. During the swim qual, Ethan nearly drowns as a result of his lack of knowledge on how to swim. However, unlike the other marines and even the instructor, Heather was brave enough to jump into the pool after him, and attempted to save his life despite the Gila monster being too heavy. After the incident, the wolf offered Ethan swimming lessons, and as a result the two's relationship flourished. The two then fell in love.

  In the Emro-Cronahn War, Ethan and Heather were now a couple, and so they swore to not let either of them die, so they can head home and get married. During the conflict, they also met Simon Miller, James Bristol, Aisha Sanza, Gary Sanders, Samuel Eden, and Casey Norton, in a platoon they'd fight in for a year into the war. This platoon would fight in five operations and two catastrophic battles. Ethan and James especially held a good rivalry together as they often competed in terms of who was the strongest, though the former was always stronger than the rest of them. As the war went into a close, the platoon was captured and put into the concentration camp called Red Friday.

  However, Eden grew to become a worse person over the years, eventually murdering Cronex officers trying to surrender, killing innocent civilians in raids, and even harassing some of the members of the battalion himself. This corruption ends up with the battalion being thrown into a negative light, with other platoons following in this corruption. This began to turn the tide of the war seeing as morale starts to break as the Cronex's superior technology surpasses the Emrovian's. During a massive battle taking place in Silcrov, most of the battalion gets slaughtered by the Cronex Empire, with Eden's platoon turning against each other in a mutiny that results in Simon Miller killing the corrupt Eden from behind as Eden tries to send the rest of them on a suicide mission that will inevitably end in failure. As a result of the catastrophic battle, the Cronex capture the surviving Emrovian Marines and imprison them in the island prison camp "Red Friday".
As a result, the Cronex had completely taken over Emrovia, with the Prime Minister being assassinated after they take over the capital of Empire City, with Hemlocke Ivanova being the new Emperor of Emrovia. After the conflict, Heather and the rest of the surviving members of the platoon are locked in Red Friday for five months. After staying for months, the group quickly escaped and ended up forming a guerrilla warfighter group, called the Bullet Rangers, to overthrow Cronex rule and to bring Emrovia back to its former glory.

  At first, the Bullet Rangers would only have four people in a tight-knit group, but would quickly grow in membership as they liberate work camps, towns, and through the use of their propaganda. Eventually, the Rangers would begin to get paid for their deeds, making a living for themselves and others. As the member count reaches to the hundreds, it turns out Alostet is too small for so many people, so they began to build a base of operations in the middle of Empire City. Eventually, Ethan manages to reunite with his family, and lets them live at Emerald Thunder. Elena would serve as a propaganda artist working alongside Allison Bristol, while Monica would be a nurse working at the shelter for refugees.
