Due to their very busy careers, the two boys were babysat by Uncle Roger who was forced into early retirement due to the loss of his right eye. Roger was what got the two boys into sports and military-related stuff.

When James was five and Arthur was eight, the Zeola family moved next-door to the Bristols as they were no longer able to afford to live in Nosaror. Seeing as how Joe and Susan were caring beings, they helped teach the Zeolas how to speak and read Mercian, as well as to integrate into Emrovian Culture. However, there was a racism problem in Emrovia as reptiles were discriminated against for their appearances. Joe even offered to protect them. In exchange, the Zeolas, especially Marlene baby sat the children while Joe and Susan were at work. This lead to her and Tiffany, the Zeola's daughter to teach the two boys how to swim. This encounter drew James to the young girl. James and Arthur's little sister Allison was born when the former turned five as well.

At age thirteen, Joseph Bristol was killed when he served in the Saraxia War from circumstances kept secret. This tragedy caused some discourse in the family. Susan was blacklisted from her acting career as a result of Joe allegedly committing war crimes during the conflict, and James and Arthur's relationship got more hostile. High school was also tough for the family, as the Alostet High School was notorious for being one of the toughest schools in the country due to its outdated rules and structure, as well as its bullying problems. One infamous character was of Natalie Iverson, a Cronex immigrant from a rich family who constantly picked on the Bristols for various reasons. Arthur was the only one who can protect the group as his larger build drew the wolf girl away. This protection went away when Arthur turned eighteen and just moved out of the Bristol household, never to be seen again.

Eventually, the Emrovian Government declared war on a small country called Vhendyr, in response to a terrorist incident by a group who originated there, who turned out to have been oppressive to its people. However, the truth turned out that Emrovia wanted Vhendyr's oil. Arthur ended up joining to not only follow his father's footsteps, but to also get out of a rough situation in his life and get himself into college with his GI Bill. He ended up fighting in the conflict for two tours, until a leg injury got him honorably discharged and sent home. He was not the same mentally after that as he struggles to properly integrate into civilian life.

After James graduated high school with good grades, he currently attends Empire City University to get a degree to become a personal trainer. While taking classes, he works two jobs to keep him and his fiancé stable as they live in their apartment as a camp counselor in the summer, and a security guard during the other seasons. While he loves working at summer camp for the adventurous feelings and the outdoors, he finds his security guard gigs to be boring and repetitive, but he keeps his chin up to afford rent, bills, etc. He is still able to find time to hang out with his friends and Tiffany, the most important in his life.
