Description Heya everyone!
This is the technique I demo'd on Level Up last sunday. If you haven't seen the video you can catch it here:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eYip7…

So, I've been trying for ages and ages to get more 'soul' into a painting and I found that simply not giving a f*ck about a lot of stuff helps. Im not too worried about little mistakes and all that. Do you think it helps? Give a shout!

I like this scene too. Would also work well with my Division shoots

Abandoned my ass. The second I knock over a can, a hoard of zombies are gonna be on me

Love this man. I watched that levelupΒ video and it was certainly enlightening on the process of developing some of these images. Thanks for opening up like that. Even though I will never be able to see and create a vision like you do, it's nice to see how it comes to fruition. Thanks again.Β

Time for a quote of mine~
"This was where everyone would gather and celebrate but, everything vanished within seconds. Why did it have to end like this?"

this looks fucking awesome. the decay, the graphiti.
you can almost taste the mold that's growing on the walls.
I can totally imagine a metalcore band shooting their music video here.Β

Sometimes the messier, the better. Cleaning things up too much can make the work look TOO digital and not as painterly. I think this turned out great.

Really reminds me of The Last of Us setting..or maybe I'm just too obsessed with that game
But I think it looks really great, especially the details with the wood in the foreground and the overall mood!

I was looking for that vid for some reason it wasnt showing up in my feed after I clicked the LS once, thanks for the link.

Also, I find that caring for the piece limits my creativity enough to make me hate painting. >Not the actual caring itself.< Not giving a fuck just lets me put down a crappy design and not hate painting.

In order to have fun AND care for my work I like to do at least 3 different composition preliminary sketches then combine the elements of each that I like into a finished piece and I feel like a happy camper in the end if I actually finish it. Which 9/10 I do not because composition and perspective isn't really some of my best things.

I guess just knowing what you want to do before you do it makes things a lot easier. And I'm against cutting out ideas I can't do the first 20 times (as that makes it less fun for me as well). I keep redoing it till its in there on accident or I think about whats wrong.

I can certainly agree, it does help to just take a step back and not stress over everything. Β I personally find caring /too much/ kills the fun I have making artwork and even makes me dislike what I create even if I enjoy 90% of the other elements.Β
