Description Taken at Ft. Lauderdale Beach - Ft. Lauderdale, FL

On the last day of my two week work trip to Florida, I set my alarm to get up early and get some sunrise shots just a mile down the road at the beach. My husband was not pleased that he didn't get to sleep in on that Saturday but he still came out with me anyway. Getting there in the pre-dawn light, I was surprised at how busy the beach was with runners, exercisers and some photographers. But it was also peaceful and quiet and even if I had been alone I think I would have felt safe.

This sailboat was just sitting on the beach with a few others, lined up ready to go out into the water. I thought that it framed the sun rising very well, giving a sense of peace and solitude--a transient feeling since the place begins to fill with people not long after the sunrise.
