It's amazing to think that these would have been bought originally as cars, a means of transport, rather than museum pieces. The amount of work people must have accepted back then to keep them looking nice....

A symbol of achieved status i guess. Nothing practical about them, i often wonder if the designer was thinking ahead, like 50 or 60 years ahead, and what these should become over time.

He must have known somehow that these would become collectibles and showpieces.

Very few survive in this kind of condition.  Someone no doubt spent a mint having it restored.
