I created a cheat sheet about painting fur or hair in a quick and easy way:1. start with the base color
2. give it some color variations
3. paint in the darker areas, shadows and dark strands
4. paint over the dark areas with light hairs considering the direction of the fur
5. add some highlights on the top in the direction of the incoming light
Notice that not all fur are in the same direction! They have different length and slightly different endings.
Value contrast is the key, paint light over shadow and it will catch the eye.
Don't paint all hairs one buy one, paint texture and group them.
