I wonder what happened to him. I assume he's now feeding and gathering the awakened shards to himself. Oh boiii, I think his return will be a grand entrance and many will consider wearing brown pants onward.

"Alien Abomination?" You mean the **GOD** they are attacking? The one who is the Physical Manifestation of Death ITSELF?!?!
Yeah...he "protects" alright.......Keep dreaming Lackey.

4 marines with nothing but standard issue bolters, and a single chainsword....
Agaisnt a Death itself, signature scythe included....
He would literally kill them all with one swing........
You argument MIGHT be valid if they had some tanks, some multi-meltas atleast...but just bolters?
The Emperor would sooner walk again...then them having a chance at besting the Nightbringer.
"Even a warped mind can see the odds stacked agaisnt it."

In the book NightBringer, the first encounter with the Nightbringer is described.
Spoiler: Even though weakened to the point of death, it could not be defeated.
What you are describing is just the game stuff (tabletop or PC), which needed a balancing.

Well yeah of course it cant be defeated. Your not merely just attempting to kill a physical God; Your trying to "kill" the concept of Death. I mean that's coming the closest I can think of of attempting to divide by zero.
And I liked the NightBringer, excepting the fact that The "Good" Captain chose to loose Death itself upon the Galaxy.
He should have pushed the button.

Sorry about this but: "You're".
And you cannot have life without death. The very concepts go together. So there will be things like "necessary evils".

I think I need to clarify.
C'tan are not "gods", they are physical entities of immense power, encased in living metal. They are referred to as "gods" only because of their incredible powers (in the same way the Primarchs are often referred to as "gods"in comparison to normal men), not because they are actually divine. The night bringer isn't the concept or embodiment of death, he was originally detailed as influencing many species "perception" of death as an entity.
In essence he is just an incredibly powerful being that appeared on many worlds to many species over the course thousands of years, causing the primitive species to attribute its ruthless attitude as being a manifestation of "death".

The Book Nightbringer is probably the worst Black Library has ever made. In the V3 necron codex, it's said that when a C'tan is physically destroyed, it explodes and then he like a kind of ghost until necrons make another body for him. In the book it is said that (spoil) he would have been prisonned in the mountain if Uriel would have destroy the tomb.
First, Nightbringer would just have to go out with it spirit, so, about beeing traped : bullshit !
Second : a marine who would have the possibility to definitively destroy and prison an extremely poweful and dangerous creature to save its own life ? Of couuuuurse...
And let's not talk about the new necron history : it's incredibly shitty made, and it doesn't exist !
