CODENAME: DEATH NOTE

[access to basic profile data granted, security level Kappa-Alpha-4-6]

== Biography ==

Name: Arielle Hildebrand

[detailed biographical data withheld; security level Epsilon-7-9-3 required to access]

== Special Abilities ==

Operative Hildebrand's application of her special ability is both unusual and highly devastating. By vocalizing high notes in whistle register (above D6) while simultaneously exerting her psychic powers, she can cause breakdown of carbon-to-carbon and carbon-to-hydrogen bonds of organic compounds. This has spectacular and horrifying effect on living targets: their flesh and even bones break apart and are reduced to bubbling froth that eventually dissolves completely, leaving small flakes of carbon behind. This effect is achieved at distances of ca. ten yards, while targets up to about thirty or so may suffer lesser degrees of damage such as lesions, lacerations and amputation of extremities such as fingers, ears or noses, with the effects progressively weakening as a function of range.

Due to the psychic component of the ability, operative Hildebrand can selectively target a specific subject or a group of subjects in sufficiently close proximity to each other: some two or three yards appears to be the maximum extent she can achieve for an area effect. Other potential targets such as friendlies are unharmed despite being in the effective range of her vocalizing (see below).

It is assumed that the special nature of operative Hildebrand's abilities caused her to manifest them at an unusually early age. While it is possible that some earlier indications thereof were present during infancy, the unexplained disappearance of her parents and progressive mutism combined with loss of early childhood memories between ages four and eight have been assumed to have been caused by the first full use of her ability. However, lack of proper documentation also leaves open the possibility of a very rare late instance of childhood disintegrative disorder as she has been diagnosed to suffer from autism spectrum symptoms. The first reliably documented case of operative Hildebrand using her ability was [redacted, security level 0-2-Epsilon-Gamma required].

As a limitation, neither the sound component or the psychic component of operative Hildebrand's ability works alone as demonstrated by Kennedy, French & al. experiments at [redacted, security level Epsilon-Alpha-5-7 required]. Thus, the range of her ability is limited to tens of yards at best as the intensity of the sound becomes insufficient beyond that. Obviously as per above, if operative Hildebrand is prevented from vocalizing at all or from producing sufficiently high notes her ability will not work.

[research notes on the abilities available, security level Omega-Phi-9-3 required]

== Physical Abilities and Training ==

Operative Hildebrand has an average physical profile of a S.A.D. trained operative: she is in good physical condition for her age and is rated sufficiently proficient in hand-to-hand combat techniques as well as use of small arms for high-risk field work. She is unwilling (although technically able) to speak and so exclusively uses sign language to communicate, which can be an asset in certain situations.

== Suggested Operational Role ==

Operative Hildebrand is simply and bluntly put a terror weapon. She should be used only in operations where casualties, up to and including collateral ones, are not considered an issue. Her reticent nature, personality traits in the autistic spectrum and continued refusal to talk may also hamper her ability to function as a part of a team, although she has bonded to some degree with her handlers at SAD. and the other supernormal operatives.

== Author's notes ==

Ms. Hildebrand is the second in the series of six S.A.D. operatives with supernormal (in this case, psychic combined with a physical mutation of vocal chords) powers. As with her employers/handlers (www.deviantart.com/tnjrp/art/S… ), the character is free to use under in any way you like under CC0 license: creativecommons.org/public-dom…

If you don't feel like making Arielle's biography up from scratch, you are out of luck as I don't have many ideas about her beyond what is told above. That said, I would think she's had it pretty rough. Her self-enforced mutism combined with autism spectrum symptoms and the fact that she was orphaned early on probably would mean she spend a lot of time at best in foster care, at worst institutionalized, until S.A.D. discovered her gave her a purpose – and psychologically manipulated her to use her frankly rather terrifying powers for their benefit (hey, I never once implied S.A.D. is an organization solely composed of good guys!)

Like the other S.A.D. operatives, her portrait was done in HeroMachine3 ( www.heromachine.com/heromachin…) with some improvements done in Paint and Gimp as well. Her skin tone by the way is not an accident.

The inspiration for Death Note is, as you may guess, not the manga of the same name (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_No… ) but instead a character from 19th century children's fiction. I won't tell you who it is yet, but I'm sure you can figure it out
