CODENAME: MA'IINGAN

[access to basic profile data granted, security level Kappa-Alpha-4-6]

== Biography ==

Name: Winda Swift Runner

[detailed biographical data withheld; security level 0-2-Epsilon-Gamma required to access]

== Special Abilities ==

Even considering the context, operative Swift Runner is exceptional. She comes from a minor group (or band) of the Ojibwe First Nation people that has for reasons yet to be fully determined developed certain very specific and stable mutations that differentiate them from baseline humans. All people, regardless of sex, with these mutations display a number of common physical and mental traits.

In appearance, they are swarthy, black-haired, robust (with men tending to bulky) and have considerably more of and more coarse body hair (but not facial hair) than regular humans. Aside of these superficial similarities, their digestive system has lost almost all capacity to get the nutrients from plants and fungi, forcing them into obligate carnivorism. Physically, they display strength, stamina and dexterity distinctly above what a normal human of the same muscle mass can muster, and are also distinctly faster and quicker. They have better sight, smell, and hearing than baseline humans and can see into near ultra violet spectrum, which grants them a degree of night vision. They also heal from injuries faster than most ordinary humans and suffer less scarring as a result of lacerations.

Common mental traits displayed are variable degrees of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or otherwise reduced impulse control, dyslexia and increased ability to read and utilize non-verbal cues and communication, both between those who share the mutation and other humans. More disconcertingly, they have a propensity to enter into a trance-like state of fury (or a berserk rage), when assaulted, threatened with violence or in some cases even when insulted.

[research notes on the mutations available, security level Omega-Phi-9-3 required]

Combined, these differences from the human norm have caused the band to be largely shunned at least since late 18th century, to which time the appearance of the mutation has tentatively been traced. Some suggest however that it has sporadically appeared in First Nation people's gene pool even before, giving rise to the legend of the wendigo, and only stabilized into an inherited set of common traits due to some change in the environment or circumstance of that particular band.

Be that as it may, the band has been known to answer any baseline human aggression with an at least corresponding use of force. Apparently operative Swift Runner's family, especially her father, was particularly adamant in employing the principle of "you reap what you sow" in regards to any slights. This eventually led to [redacted, security level 0-2-Epsilon-Gamma required] and operative Swift Runner being expelled from her band. All the same, she still often wears her father's old red hunting jacket as a personal reminder of her background.

== Physical Abilities and Training ==

Operative Swift Runner has physical capabilities significantly above those of a baseline a S.A.D. trained operative: for details, see Special Abilities above. She is very proficient in hand-to-hand combat techniques and use of small arms as well as military grade equipment such as sniper and assault rifles.

== Suggested Operational Role ==

Operative Swift Runner is, due to her fairly distinct appearance, usually unable to partake in clandestine operations, but when situation calls for going in hard, fast and without subtlety, she is an essential part of the team. Due to her impulse control issues, consideration is advised when there is a high risk of collateral damage.

== Author's notes ==

Coname: Ma'iingan is the penultimate S.A.D. operative in the series of six and is free to use under in any way you like under CC0 license: creativecommons.org/public-dom…

As with the other S.A.D. operatives, I don't have anything much outlined that I have not written above. One interesting point you might like to explore is Winda's relationship with her family, especially her father. Implied above but not confirmed (you'd need 0-2-Epsilon-Gamma clearance to make sure ) is that there was a possibly fatal (to him) altercation between them. Perhaps you'd not go with patricide however, but have Winda's daddy dearest pop up at an inopportune moment instead? That's up to you of course, because CC0 works like that.

Like the other S.A.D. operatives, Winda's portrait was done in HeroMachine3 (www.heromachine.com/heromachin… ) with some improvements done in Paint and Gimp after the fact.

The inspiration for Operative Swift Runner can be traced back to several pre-17th-century European folk tales, but if you want a straight answer as to which you'll have to wait for one last operative (+ one week). I'm sure you can guess the origin of this character however if you dig up what her codename means in Ojibve language.
