I've been in a Star Wars frenzy lately...this is my 3rd SW related thing in about a month
I still like Star Trek better, though. Anyway, this is an interesting class of Tie fighter that only appeared in some of the comics and various games. All the designs look different - they're just combinations of differant ship's parts. This one was based off of a picture I found of one ( [link] ). I also made one based off oa B-wing, but it's not as cool...maybe I'll upload it later anyway though.
I modeled most of this, other than a couple various parts of the Tie head and Y-wing nacelles that are borrowed from a couple of Al Meerow's meshes (with his permission, of course).

Β Looks like someone took operational parts from a junkyard, and gamma welded them all together to create the semblance of a working ship. I'd be surprised if it flew any better than a brick.

I'm a little rusty, since it's been probably the better part of ten years since I've read them. However, the concept of 'Uglies' originated from the X-Wing series after Aaron Allston took over. In it, Wedge Antilles formed a spec ops flight group, where the members were more then just pilots. In part of the stories, they acted as pirates, and part of the cover was having star fighters cobbled together from various other fighters.Β
I distinctly remember there being a Tie cockpit with X-Wing nacelles and S-Foils. It's exactly how it sounds.Β

This is the result of a tie-intercepter, x-wing and y-wing fighters crash on a planet.. the tie fighter pilot kills the others and uses spare parts from their ships to get his air bourne.

ah an Uglie. Very nice. Especially since it's your own Uglie design right? Looks better than others I've seen. Certainly better than the one with just Y-wing engines connected to the Tie coptit. Anyway yeah, looks like you got a bloodthirsty pirate there. Bravo.

in the x-wing books series by Micheal A Stackpole and Aaron Allston they were nicknamed "die wings" because they had the the weakness's from each fighter. Very well done!

Sorry, I'm a Rogue fan, and they fight Uglies a lot. Particularly TIE wings, AKA DIE-WINGS!!
