Description it's partially a self-portrait, in the loosest use of the term.

as a small child, when i would be choosing a new pet from the petshop or breeder, or when i would choose a stuffed toy from the shops, i'd always choose the ugliest, stupidest creature i could find.
i pitied those animals, and reasoned that if I didn't choose them, perhaps nobody would, and nobody would ever love them. where as me, on the other hand - me, well, it didn't matter so much to me if they were ugly and stupid, i vowed to love them just the same anyways.
god i was a sap of a kid. i find it rather amusing now.
but this is me - convinced it's my mission in life to save fugly budgies and goldfish, because truth be told, i rather identified with them.

hahahaha.
I love how you draw the most beautiful backgrounds and then put silly things in the foreground. It is almost a waist but also so funny, and it identifies you lots as an artist. Do you know 's work? I think you'd like it.

This is awesomely creative ^^. Yea, pretty things leave little room for imagination where as 'ulgy' things can be so much more beautiful in your heart . And here's what you deserve

Great piece. And I love the sentiment behind it- I am still like that myself. It seems too many do not care for such hapless creatures. We silly sappy few....

I found a sparrow with no wings in my garden as a child and tried to care for it. Broke my heart when the poor thing died.
Something about the hapless that can bring out the best in even the worst of people.

This is beautiful.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I was like that as child and I still am. If I'm looking at things and if I touch or even if I just look at it too long, I have to buy it. I really personalize things too much - it drives my boyfriend nuts. I'm a severe packrat because I have an emotional attachment to almost everything I have. (Either I name it, or give it's own personality.)

Anyways, great picture and I'm going to go take the pills my doctor tells me to take.

And here I thought I was the only one who did that.

I used to go through the racks after Valentine's Day or what have you, and look for the leftover bears or bunnies or whatever, that were missing bits, or their faces were mashed in, or they had a droopy eye or something. I had the same reasoning, if I don't take these poor little rejected bears and such home, no one else will, and they were made to be loved the same as their more "perfect" brothers and sisters. I hated the thought of them going in the trash pile or in the incinerator (as happens sometimes). So I have a collection of "uglies" myself, that is currently residing in a box somewhere, but that I remember fondly and unpack every once in awhile to give hugs to them. Someday I'll find a better use for them, but I'll never toss them.

It's nice to see that there are other people in the world who save the "uglies" and who identify with them as well.
