Originally I wanted to straight away reveal the source of the haunting and we see the corpses of the ghost kids - victims of past and present surrounding this 'heart of darkness' but no matter how many times I tried storyboard it out, it felt off. So the door was like a last minute thing to show like, okay... this is the monster's lair and what's on the door with the ritual circle and all leaves a few more clues to what is going on.
