Description
●VF-1X Plus, "SVF-2 Sonic Birds Last Flight"
Macross City, Earth, March 10, 2058
As part of the commemoration ceremony of the 38th anniversary of the end of the 1st Space War, the retirement ceremony of the VF-1, which will be withdrawn from Earth Sphere Defense Fleet units this year, was held.
The ceremony featured a display of VF-1s, including those from units which had upgraded from the type long ago, who had brought out their stored aircraft and applied special paint schemes to them to mark the special occasion. It can be assumed that the units did not send their latest fighters to the ceremony due to the political instability following the establishment of NUNS, but for VF-1 fans it was a pleasant surprise.
The image shows an aircraft from SVF-2 "Sonic Birds" (now equipped with VF-19C

) which has been stationed at Atsugi Airbase since the first VF units were formed.
VF-1s are currently flown by some colony fleets, border patrol units, as well as civilian companies and individuals, and their timeless form can still be seen in action.
