I think I'm coming into this late, because apparently there is a subculture out there that likes Pirate Mermaids. I don't know who first crossed these two genres of fantasy characters, but I think I like it! This is a commission for (can't remember, but you know who you are) and I had fun doing it. I hope you like it. I had almost as much fun giving it a title! Get it? She's protecting BOTH boot---ah, forget it.Related content

I'm fine with you taking my lines and coloring it, but redrawing it bothers me. Β Weather better or worse than my drawing, people will THINK that's what I drew. Β So, if you want to color it, go for it, with according credit of course. Β Thanks. Β

Merfolk and seafarers like pirates probably go way back, considering that they were the ones who started telling tales of these creatures and bringing them back home with them on their travels. (The stories, of course, not actual merfolk).
It would appear that love has been revisited today in these combinations, which I like, too. :3
Also, I personally don't count pirates to be fantasy, considering there were real pirates in the 18th century.
