I did see the mock-up in Florida many years ago. It was at one time a tourist attraction. When I saw it, the building was being used for something else, but I talked my way in. It was impressive. The mock-up only half of the airplane, split down the middle. I drove by a few years ago (probably 15 years ago) and it had been disassembled and its pieces were strewn about the property. I may have taken a pic. but it most likely is not very good quality and I do not know where it is.

a shame ours didn,t make it....that 2707 would have just blown the Concorde and Tu-144 away!

That's for sure. The Concorde never made a profit.

ours probably wouldn,t have either, but in the 1960s,it just never occurred to anybody that fuel prices would just skyrocket the way they did. let,s hope our next government does something to break this insane addiction to foreign oil!

The government can help, but it is going to be private industry that makes it happen.

you and me both...! the acts of the last 8 years should not go unpunished either...time for some strict Rule Of Law. i,and many others are so fed up with seeing those in High Places commit so many serious offenses and violations, and getting away Scot-Free....! our Constitution is NOT "just a piece of paper" and The Election IS America, and the it is very core of what we,re all about as a nation.

it is such a shame the 2707 and Lockheed's proposal never went into production.....they are such beasts....hopefully one day we will have SSTs again

perhaps the SST program can be revived with hydrogen power...rising fuel costs were a contributing factor to it,s cancellation. Big Oil has had things their own way long enough....!

hopefully, there are definately select markets that SSTs could benifit. i think that they will first come back on business oriented routes where there is sufficient demand (like maybe JFK-LHR again etc) and then move into more mainstream once larger 2707 type aircraft come in that can carry enough people to make sense......but either way, i fear it will be many years before an SST graces the skies again

it,s all a matter of need and justification. hopefully,SST,s will be brought back by popular demand, and hopefully before i,m too old to fly one!
