Description Size comparison of large animals that lived in East Asia between 90 million years ago and 65 million years ago.
Upper row: Protoceratops andrewsi (primitive, hornless ceratopsian), Micropachycephalosaurus hongtuyanensis (tiny pachycephalosaur), Gigantoraptor erlianensis (huge ovirpatorosaur), Alioramus remotus (narrow-jawed tyrannosaur), Achillobator giganticus (large dromaeosaur), Avimimus portentosus (small-headed oviraptorosaur, one of the first known feathered dinosaurs), Microceratus gobiensis (tiny, bipedal ceratopsian), Deinocheirus mirificus (huge-clawed theropod, possibly ornithomimosaur) and Velociraptor mongoliensis (medium-sized, slender dromaeosaur).
Middle row: Estesia mongoliensis (large lizard related to Gila monster), Udanoceratops tschizhovi (large leptoceratopsid with robust lower jaw), Gallimimus bullatus (large ornithomimid), Oviraptor philoceratops (medium-sized oviraptorosaur with strong, toothless beak), Zhejiangopterus linhaiensis (large Chinese pterosaur related to Quetzalcoatlus), Therizinosaurus cheloniformis (huge, herbivorous theropod with extremely long claws), Saurornithoides mongoliensis (large troodontid) and Tarchia gigantea (large, desert-dwelling ankylosaur).
