Description Drawing for the song "The fool on the hill" by the Beatles.

The first time I watched "Magical Mystery Tour", the scene with "The fool on the hill" reminded me this painting: [link]
This painted is called "Der Wanderer ΓΌber dem Nebelmeer" ("Wanderer above the Sea of Fog"), by Caspar David Friedrich and it is one of my favourite paintings.

So I "borrowed" the composition of this masterpiece for "The fool on the hill". But the original is so much better, obviously... --"

For now, "Der Wanderer ΓΌber dem Nebelmeer" is in Hamburg museum (Boufton, I hate yaaaaa...).

Thank you... Well, I like that drawing too, but it's not that kind of things I do usually.

It is very impressing. what is your own favorite drawing of yours?

Hm... "Linda McCartney", I think. Or maybe "Alice in Lennonland", I'm not sure. Simplier pics, obviously. x)

Because you like the motive more or because they aren't so expensive to draw? I guess this picture here is more impressing. I like the other two too. But I guess it is the amount of things to the drawing.
Fool on the hill has a background and everything.
It is a stronger scene.

I like very much the softness in the drawing of Linda, and "Alice in Lennonland" is more like my universe than "The fool on the hill". I like a lot "The fool on the hill" which is technically speaking one of my best pics, but I think it's too heavy, too flashy. And the choice of colours for the spirals is too random. x)

Oh, and there's also the fact that the composition isn't mine in "The fool on the hill". It's from the painting I mentioned in the comment.

I understand.
The Alice in Lennonland is well done but maybe just not the taste of everyone John as Alice.
And Linda is well done too, but maybe Fans don't like Linda so much.

Fool on the hill is known by everyone and eventually loved. It is a interpretation of the Song.
Something everyone understands.
Maybe that is the reason.

Oh, I know why "The fool on the hill" is prefered to Alice in Lennonland or Linda McCartney! I just say that it's one of my favourites, but that I prefer my sober pictures. ^^

Wow! This is great! Reminds me a bit of Peter Max's work; he did some work for 'Yellow Submarine' I think, and he's awesome! Also, he's on Facebook! I practically worship his work!
You did a great job here, friend. The thumbnail really caught my eye and when I clicked it, it did not disappoint.

Thanks for faving and commenting this one too!

Hm, I didn't know that artist before, but now that I saw some of his pictures I can see he's very great indeed! I like these retro pictures with all these colors... Pop art, too.

Thank you very much again!

I'll try my best, even if now when I look at it, "The fool on the hill" isn't the kind of stuffs I usually do... --"

I'm working on a drawing about "Octopus's Garden", but it wouldn't be as colored as that one... More with blue, green, purple and yellow.

Great, oh dont hate me. Visit me instead. We'll make a museum and hamburg tour ^^v you're invited but my apt is pretty small...

Yeah, me too... x'D Logical.

I was quite surprised actually because after submitting this drawing, I search "the fool on the hill" on deviantart to see what was made by other people. Most of the pictures were beautiful, but quite sinister. And the others which weren't sinister didn't represent the weird side of the song. What I wanted was a drawing which represented the weird side AND the calm side of "The fool on the hill". Can't say if I succeeded. x)

Yeaaaaah, Hamburg! ^o^ Your apt may be small, but I'm even smaller, haha!

It could be interesting to see your own vision of "The fool on the hill"... But I understand you're very busy, since I've seen this MARVELOUS trailer you've made for "Yellow Submarine"!!! OwO I'm in love with it!

I won't lie, searching "The fool on the hill" on deviantart depressed me a bit. ^^" It was even worse with "While my guitar...", I was like "Oh shit, why have I submitted this crap?!" x)

Oh, you know, a corner is fine. Even a suitcase would be fine. ^^

I will try to make one another day ^^ but this is one of the works I actually wanted to do on canvas in oil.

oh >< thank you very much.... Im really glad u like it...

huh. what does it say about us. no self-confidence?
too picky? I dont know. I always have that. >~< I feel I suck at drawing so often.
I just want it perfect..

Aw, for my part, I cannot paint... --" To difficult for me. Or it's abstracts. x'D My traditional tools are pens, pencils, ink, crayons and charcoal crayons.

I know exactly why I'm never satisfied with my drawings: inferiority complex. ^^" I never had drawing lessons (except stupid lessons at school) and you can easily see it. >.> When I see the others drawing objects, bodies and places so well when I hardly draw a hand... That's so depressing. Still I like their works! ^^

brushes and me are old enemies -__-
I am not good at it at all.... but I wanna try

oh I have that too xD deffo.
I never learned anything either. and not even really at school =.=
and I would say you can see that too.
hands are "easy" I practiced them. I cant draw male bodies well. neither legs and I suck at feet
(Ya me too but I hate them at the same time)

TommyMcGann In reply to JollyGrump [2011-11-17 20:29:35 +0000 UTC]

... No... You never had any drawing lessons?! O.O" My godness! I'm depressed, now... You draw as if you had some lessons at least! My inferiority complex is getting worse...

I never succeeded drawing hands correctly. Well, it's better know than a year ago, but well... ^^" It's not easy for me. My only big problem with bodies is the proportions. --" I always do their legs too long... ^^ It's very visible on my drawing of Esmeralda: [link] I mean, these are not legs, these are bloody stilts!

^^ Ahah! But all you need is love, my dear. As benetton said: "unhate"! By the way, this picture made me think about you: [link]
x) Your chancelor and our president... Who are known for not getting along well...

OH NO the merkel!! XD that was GROSS *rofl*
but unhate is a good idea... eh xD I think

That doesnt matter ^^ when u draw anime/manga style long legs are normal
And I do that too Im pretty sure of that.

nope xD no lessons. I just practice since years n years n years-
I think I really will show you earlier stuff now. ... Ill search for it i hope u dont have to puke lol. and dont let it get worse. I guess youre younger than me xD so you got to catch up anyway in age rather than skill. (I actually liked esmeralda)

TommyMcGann In reply to JollyGrump [2011-11-18 10:17:44 +0000 UTC]

x'D I thought "OH NO the Sarko!". Sarkozy aka the Dwarf. He's small and like gold: a dwarf.
There are many "unhate" Benetton's pictures: Obama and Chavez kissing, the Pope and the Imam kissing... I really like the concept and the pictures! I think that's the kind of things John Lennon would have liked!

Yeah, the manga and anime "Nana" is a good example! ^^" But I rarely draw in manga style...

I don't think I' m younger than you... You seems quite young, actually, on your photos! I would say you'ld be 18. More or less. ^^"

I like my Esmeralda, but really, these legs... She's supposed to be small, for Christ's sake! xD I didn't notice anything at first, then I used indian ink and... "Oh shit, she has Pattie Boyd's legs!!!" O.O"

ha yeah you could be right XD he would have liked that

oh I heared of nana xD its shojo stuff right?XD I never read so much of that.

HOHO XD you guessed me for 18 now I like that >D thaaaaank ye~
(but its wrong xD)

You know thats what I have often. I draw and notice nothing then suddenly JUST when youre NOT able to change anything anymore ta-daaa you see a major failure.
Well I didnt really notice her legs as beeing to long or thin. You are "prefectionisting" again xD
its really well done and I think no one would see that as a failure.... I Didnt o.o

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TommyMcGann In reply to JollyGrump [2011-11-23 20:29:08 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, "Nana" is a shojo about a punk band in a kind of rivalry with a rock band. A bit fluffy yet quite good, even if I don't read much shojo either. I prefer "Death Note", "City Hunter", "Fullmetal Alchemist"...

Damned, I'm wrong again... ^^" Well at least I haven't offensed you.

Sometimes, I even do mistakes using indian ink... T_T For example, I'm carefuly drawing with a fountain pen, and... Someone honks outside. I jump, and there's a BIG line on the drawing.
.... AAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!

Thanks a lot, but still her legs are VERY long... For my part, I've never see any 13 years old girl with such legs. Well, maybe Frollo, Quasimodo and Phoebus desired her because of her wonderful long legs! ^^
