An Old Gate in a forest. I should really paint less forest scenes but it was really interesting experimenting with colours.

Stunning picture! The colors give it a very nostalgic feel, almost out of a dream. I love how it's like the gate is drawing us in with such sharp details. It's wonderfully framed by silhouettes in the foreground and the more abstract trees in the back.

There once stood a tall mansion in the middle of a beautiful forest, filled with mesmerising scenes that could only be described as magic. To accompany this strong built mansion, there stood a sturdy high gate. Many people have passed through this gate, yet now the old gate is left to sway in the wind. The mansion hidden behind; old with dust, the people long gone. The gate stands still, with light pouring through the trees to meet it; waiting. Waiting, for you.
((I recently stumbled upon your lovely paintings and couldn't help but write this! I really love old things, such as mansions, the beautiful gate in your picture and I adore paintings of nature. I wish I was as skilled as you at painting, not that I have really painted anything. Seeing your paintings make me want to definitely give it a try. Once again, you are a wonderful painter, I adore this painting and i've been rambling so i'm just going to stop now.))

The gate have a pretty look,and the background also are well done. However,this place look like the gateway to a mansion,with many people.To show that´s old(and maybe bareft)place,I guess that you should put bindweeds on the gate and walls.

Beautiful job on a really nice quiet spot that would be really neat to find IRL. I love the sharpness of the beautifully-designed gate and wall contrasted against the fuzzier or even blurred natural elements, all looking sharp everywhere in between. The mist and lighting add a sense of stillness and perhaps a touch of eeriness to the mood as well, but in the peaceful way. Thanks for sharing.

Even if trees are a common theme in your works. I do say that the pink and purple background colours do give the background a more interesting look than the use regular green colours I see.

Charlatans gate, deep in the forest, it was old, older than anyone who'd ever stumbled across it by accident. It was timeless here, things seemed to run slower, flowers bloomed longer, a world thoughtfully at peace.
A seemingly permanent cloud of purple pollen coloured the air so richly that one could be forgiven for thinking they'd stepped out of reality and into their dreams.
Gorgeous Tom, really beautiful.
Critique: The circle in the middle of the gate (immediately above the vertical bars) is off centre and seems to have no split so the gate can open.

I watched the video of you painting this and it would seem by your process that the circle is centred to everything above it, so either all of the ornamentation needs to shift slightly right or the bars need to shift left.
Other than that small tweak, it's a great painting.

The gate style and the F on it reminds me of Foster's Home for Imaginary Beings. It looks like it could be a rear or side gate to the property. Either way it makes me want to know what's beyond the gate

It reminds me of my sixth form days. I used to have to wait for the bus in the woods by a gate similar to this one (but not quite as grand and more arched in shape). It lead into the church cemetery. Not a place for the faint of heart to lurk waiting for a bus at quarter past seven on a December morning. XD
