I don't like chromatic aberration effect at all. And I don't like that it's trendy nowadays. However I know it's always fun playing with things, like here I think

Couldn't agree with you more, it's the lens flare of 2010.
That said, there are some interesting properties to learn from it that do of course require experimentation - as you have said
