I have to say, even though I created the piece, it still freaks me out too. And yes, the skull is so subtle that it takes awhile to notice.

Considering the fact that the sub is surfacing/moving, shouldn't it cause some sort of ripples in the water, ripples that would also affect its reflection?

Possibly. I added a very slight trail behind the sub that indicates it is moving very slow. I added a very slight disturbance at the sides but no outward ripples. I like to think of the sub as "lurking".

I sorta struggled with weather I should add the skull reflection or not. Technically, I don't believe it would reflect. The skull is actually located 2 or 3 feet inward. The viewer can look directly inward and see the skull but the reflection is immediately below the domed window. I could be wrong though.
