Thanks! I was feeling indulgent, as well as a bit whimsical... However, when I consider digital consumption, I think that styles like Mike Mignola's are ideal. The clean lines, the smart, clean colour palette-- all of it. There are others; Bruce Timm did a short story for Batman: Black and White which works incredibly well for digital device consumption.

Purely as an exercise, I like playing around with fine cross-hatching and other types of delicate line work from time to time, keeping the "muscles" in shape, if you will. However, when I consider creating a graphic narrative from the perspective of the consumer, I want to lean toward less "decorative" tendencies.

Having said all that: I love MONO and the delicate intricacies Ben and Fin sprinkle throughout the work.

Hmmmm...

The crosshatching is really delicate and beautifully done. Not many inkers, these days, have that skill. There's a new approach that relies more on colouring, that doesn't need it. I thought it was just great.

Yes, many of the line art techniques commonly in practice these days are far less illustrious and are somewhat more informed  by animation techniques than "traditional" drawing techniques. While I love to experimenting with varied media- on some level I'll always be a pen and ink guy.

I find that there's something incredibly humble and reaffirming about a simple sheet of paper, my antiquated rendering tool and simple medium. No "lens flare" or other technological gimmicky; just me. The artist denuded.
