I really kind of like the idea behind this one. 6 year old Sherib travelled with her parents who were deep space explorers for the Malyykem race when they discovered Earth. Unfortunately, they landed in Germany near the rise of Nazi power. Her mother was killed, but her father managed to escape with his child. Hiding out in America, afraid to reveal his alien nature, Gabriel tried his best to lead an unremarkable life. But Sherib grew up a wide-eyed and impressionable American girl. Listening to the adventures of the mystery men on the radio, Sherib was especially taken by the stories of Superman, who, like herself was an alien embraced as a hero by his fellow Americans. So, Sherib using some of her father's advanced technology (like the Halo gauntlet that protected her with a shield/force-field) set out to fight crime. Eventually she ran into some fifth columnist trouble she couldn't handle and her father, angry as he was had to rescue her, becoming the angelic hero Gabriel, while his daughter was his sidekick Cherub.

The fun part of this, I think, is that the sidekick was first, and dragged the Hero into her adventures.
