Description

TOH 14 (Written by John Swartzwelder) (Directed by Steven Dean Moore)

Opening: Terrible, out of character for Marge. Though Kang and Kodos' cameo was funny. 2/10

Reaper Madness

Pros: "Run with the grind," the chase between Bart and Death, the delivery man noticing suicidial Moe,

Cons: The last few minutes of it.

Good Segment;

Score: 8/10

Frinkenstein

Pros: Homer wishes he was Death again.

Cons: Frink's son killing people (with digusting visuals of spines being ripped of) and the most of it was just meh.

Bad Segment;

Score: 2/10

Stop the World I Want to Goof Off

Pros: Bart and Milhouse messing with time (mainly with the donuts turning Homer naked) naked Nelson, and the last part.

Cons:Some of the weird facal expressions of frozen characters (such as the one with Carl and Lenny/Milhouse's parents) Homer's head falling off

Good Segment;

Score: 9/10

OK Episode;

Overall Score: 6/10

My Mother the Carjacker
Pros: The beginning, uklele in Homer's brain, Homer hugging a bum, Sideshow Mel making a speech (and everyone already left), Homer riding the wrong way, the signs, Hippie-English dictionary
I thought it was an excellent episode. I will actually agree with a person saying that it was better than Mother Simpson (it had a rusty start though). Here, everything was flawless and emotional. I mean, the last scene on Mother Simpson doesn't really beat the emotionalness here, but it's still really strong here. There's some humor here and there but for the most part, it feels so seasons 1 and 2-ish in tone.

10/10

The President Wore Pearls
Pros: Marge gambling, Nelson giving everyone answer keys, Homer dressed with a tufu, Willie dropping a piano, "when hell freezes over," Bart's sarcastic clap, the songs, Wiggum saying Eddie to shut up, rubber butt

So, we get another musical number themed episode. I honestly think this is better than the musical themed episode from season 8. The school staffs are jerks, but I think they had a point. Plus, we don't want Lisa to be so full of herself. That's a major complaint about her modern self. But aside that, I really enjoyed this episode. It had some catchy songs. The humor isn't as prominent either like in the previous episode. It was more plot driven.
10/10

The Regina Monologues
Pros: Hockey Dad, Otto crushing the power line, "I can't believe we meet Mr. Bean," British Squeaky Voiced Teen, montage of Bart and Lisa having fun, the family repeatedly saying Macbeth,

Cons: Some jokes/stereotypes, most of act 3
Eh, this was a mediocre roadtrip episode. Not a good way to end Swartzwelder's run on the Simpsons, but then again, he changed a lot after season 9, so it's pretty much the seasons 10-12's tone fault for making him a weak writer during those time period. The plot isn't that bad of an idea, but what made it worse is some of the stereotypes and the shoehorning of guest stars (who the Simpsons will just excitedly say their names). It was pretty boring as well, but act 3 was quite bad. It feels like a lighter season 11 plot twist but less zany. Well, altogether, not a great way to end the 59 episodes that Swartzwelder had written. But oh well, it's fun while it's lasted. He had some classics mainly before season 10. After The Wizard of Evergreen Terrace, his writing declined.
5/10

The Fat and the Furriest
Pros: Veggie Tales parody, Nelson shoplifting with his mouth, "we're not TV pretty," kitchen carnival, everything sticking to the big candy (and it talks), Homer seeing bears, Old Coot website, Joe Kickass, bird snack

Cons: Footage of Homer getting scared of bear, Homer crying, some of act 3

Well, this is a better than I excepted episode. What sounded dumb with the whole Homer being a pussy turns out to be decent. In the end, he and the bear aren't enemies anymore. Odd, but I don't mind that. The episode had zany humor and I actually laughed at most of those moments. Only exception was the footage of cowardly Homer. I found it to be extremely stupid due to how Homer acted throughout the video. His crying didn't helped either. Altogether, it's a great episode with a stupid part, but it's better than when you see about the description of it.
8/10

Today I Am a Clown

(Not the funniest episode or best Krusty episode. While it's nothing like Like Father Like Clown, it's still an enjoyable episode. The humor are usually limited to chuckles throughout. The plots were both decent.)
7/10

Tis the 15th Season
Pros: Homer doing the same what SLH and Snowballs II (messing with their sweaters), 1996 Christmas musical,  Bart playing an educational game, Jimmy Stewart Christmas puppet show, CBG's pants ripping, picture of Homer in the news report, Hans under the snow, Moe attempting suicide but then falls off
Cons: CBG licking the card, Burns taking a bit of his blood, Homer robbing the presents
(I really enjoyed the plot of Homer being nice on Christmas. I only had three complaints though: One CBG licking the card was gross. Second, that one sene with Burns grossed me out as well, and it's an old (age) joke. Third, in addition to being irraiting in a few moments, Homer robbing all the presents bothered me somewhat.)
8/10

Marge vs Everyone
(It had a pretty funny beginning. The plot of this episode is something unique but it's not really my favorite. The satire is really good here. Funniest lines are from Ralph, Homer, and CBG.)
8/10

I, (annoyed-grunt)-Bot
(Both plots are very great, but I liked the robot plot better. The robot fights were cool to watch. The subplot was repetitve seeing the cats get killed off. They both had heart in them so that's something I'll get merit for.)
9/10

Diatribe of a Mad Housewife
(Episode 1 of 3 to first premiered on my birthday. I was 7 at the time. I liked the plots of these episode but I can't decide which one is better. Marge's plot about writing a novel is interesting. Homer's plot is great as well but it was too short lived. Eventually, it went downhill a little bit. Homer was a tad of jerk in one scene when he thought of Marge's book. The whole imagination with the novel was interesting to watch. For the most part, it's a really great episode.)
8/10

Margical History Tour
*I'll now watch trilogy episodes along with the season Originially, I would skip them but now I'll watch them for curiosity.*
First segment: (It had its jokes and moments, but even as a story segment, it feels like a marriage crisis, not that it's bad. The worst joke was Lisa wanting to grow a penis, it's just so cringeworthy.)
6/10
Second segment: (It's slightly better than the first story. It featured some great characters and humor, so it's probably my favorite segment in this episode.)
7/10
Third segment: (The weakest segment. The humor are mainly hit or mess. The opera song was pretty lame due to how gross the lyrics are. Lisa's character is a jerk here.)
5/10
(Overall, this trilogy episode wasn't anything special compared to the previous trilogy episodes. There were all over the place in quality.)
Overall score: 6/10

Milhouse Doesn't Live Anymore
(A dazzling episode; the only negatives in this episode was Milhouse, he was grumpy here - Kirk was funny though. Bart and Lisa as best friends was a weird concept. But it's kind of worked execpt Lisa being emotional as usual. Also, the ending made no sense.)
9/10

Smart and Smarter (This episode had a hilarious beginning with Homer and Bart fighting each other. Lisa's plot is better than excepted, but still acts a little OOC. As usual, she's too desperate, but not the "want to have friends" plot, so it's something original. It was a little weird and gross towards the end. It's pretty enjoyable for a episode written by Omine. I'll give points for the plot of Maggie being smarter than Lisa, and some funny moments.)
8/10

The Ziff Who Came to Dinner (Artie Ziff returns once again. Sadly, he's not as likable as he was in The Way We Was and Half Decent Proposal. The latter had his best role ever, but here, he's just unlikable. Artie doesn't affect my thoughts on the episode, but I'm irriated by Homer getting sent to court while it should been Artie. At least Marge called him out about this. Other than that major problem, it's still watchable and had funny moments, particulary the first act with the scary movie thing. Honestly, Selma and Artie being interested with each other was predictable.)
7/10

Co-Dependent's Day (A lot of negative reception with this episode.I actually liked the beginning of the episode with the Star Wars spoof. The trip to California was alright. But come the scene with drunk Homer crashing the car and make Marge arrested for that. What he did here is so wrong! It's almost as worse as he did in the Scully era. The worst thing he did in that era is still worse than in this episode. Homer gets his punishment by having Marge called out for his actions. Homer is freaking annoying throughout the second half of the episode.)
4/10

The Wandering Juvie (Bart's prank about the bride was hilarious. An interesting fact that this is not the first animated FOX show to have a love interest voiced by Sarah Michelle Gellier. Her character is okay but a bit too mean-spirited. It had its hilarious moments like Wiggum getting mauled by a bear.)
8/10

My Big Fat Geek Wedding (A lesser continuation to Special Edna. The plots seem disjointed. The episode seems to centered on Ms. K, who refuses marry Skinner and starts to date Comic Book Guy. But at the same time, it had a marriage crisis going on with Homer and Marge for some unkown reasons. My favorite part of this episode was Matt Groening's appearance. The show creator's appearance was unexcepted but it was excellent. Probably one of my favorite self-celebrity guests. At least CBG gets his biggest role until Married to the Blob.)
7/10

Catch 'em if You Can (Well, I am conflicted with this episode. The plot is alright, but Homer and Marge, especially the latter, seems too neglectful. I mean, Marge had a reason why she couldn't put up with the kids anymore, but it's just too out of character for her. It had its funny moments, but the best moment was the parody scene.)
5/10

Simple Simpson (A somewhat better episode than some of the previous episodes. This episode had an excellent plot. I loved seeing Homer as a superhero who throws pie. Honestly, the episode is not without its flaws sincwe Rich Texan and Mr. Burns were cruel in this one. Mr. Burns is just cruel for the sake of it, but not in a badass way he used to be in the classic seasons. But aside from those moments, it was quite creative and hilarious.)
9/10

The Way We Weren't (It may had a retconned backstory, but it was handled nicely. The story of Homer and Marge meeting as children was nice. It was unexcepted but the heart in this episode was so sweet. It's probably the best heartwarming episode this season. It had its moments of humor like Milhouse kissing Homer and declaring it his first kiss.)
10/10

Bart Mangled Banner (John Frink's first episode himself and wow! I just hated this episode. This is not a good way to start his solo writing - as his past writing efforts were with the late Don Payne. Well, there are redeemable traits like the beginning before the whole shit happens and Bill Clinton. The song doesn't really saved it. Why I hated this episode is obvious...it insulted America. Bart mooned the flag and for reason, the Simpsons are pariahs. Is this bringing you back memories of Miracle on Evergreen Terrace? It sure does, but unlike that episode, this episode managed to make it worse: the WHOLE Simpsons family are shunned. What Marge said about it was very Out of Character for her. And what's worse is the ending. It's too abrupt...seriously, do we pretend that this never happened? If so, count me in. This episode downright sucks. Only the first few minutes were good until Bart mooned the flag. Just a big fuck you to America. Easily the worst season 15 episode, which it's a shame, the season is doing well. If it weren't for the funniest scenes which adds up a 2/10 rating, this would been my top 5 worst episode ever in this show.)
2/10

Fraudcast News (Don Payne - RIP - makes his first writing solo debut here. It's sure as hell better than writer John Frink's abominable first solo episode. I enjoyed this episode mainly because it centered on Mr. Burns. So for a season finale, this will probably be my favorite of season 15. Ending a season with Mr. Burns part of the plot is ex-cellent. It had better satire, plotting, and humor than Bart Mangled Banner had. Very reccomended. These season finales are such blasts.)

I found another good part of Tis the 15th Season. "Unloved by Al? NO!"

The problem with Milhouse saying Homer was his first kiss was that it wasn't. It was Samantha.

And also, In Wandering Juvie, Bart said "I think girls are icky-pants". I take it he forgot about his experience with Laura, Jessica, and Greta.

Bart Mangled Banner is the bad episode.

If you hated Bart Mangled Banner, then you will NOT like Politically Inept with Homer Simpson (which is by the same writer).

I saw that episode on a rerun in April 2012 (rather than January 8, 2012 its premiere date). But I'll have to rewatch it since my opinions will probably be changing frequently from seasons 21-25 and I don't want my thoughts on Politically Inept to be unpopular.

The next John Frink episode is The Girl Who Slept Too Little, which you might like.
