Description Icarus
The dreamer who dreamed too high.
A myth to subdue glory-seeking youth.
It's the tale of a foolish boy who dared to try to reach the sun,
But the heat was too great,
and his make-shift wings melted,
Dooming him to the frothing waves below.

But is that really the truth?

Maybe it's not a cautionary tale,
But one of hope-
Of hope for all dreamers to come.

He didn't fail to touch the sun,
Rather he touched the greatest glory.

He soared past the bewildered birds,
On past the highest mountains,
On past cold reality
And cruel calculation
Blistering
            Blazing
                      Burning
                               Searing
                                        Soaring
                                                 Seeking

And upon finding this nova of truest truths and most joyful joys,
He broke free from his mortal shell,
Leaving his story for future dreamers to tell.

this is an absolutely beautiful poem. i like the formatting, the idea, the hope and new perspective behind it. icarus is such a truly inspiring character, despite how his story ended.

i have linked this piece here, in the artist's comments of one of my pieces, called ordinary .

Hahaha!

I checked out your gallery, actually, and you're a phenomenal photographer, especially with architecture. I see your photos, and I think of what my pictures of the places would be like if I had been there and taken pictures of them, and I am infinitely greatful that there are people like you to take them better.

I'm definately going to have to add you to my watch list.

Wow. And to think I just found this on the random pull of my homepage. It is easily the BEST poem I've read on here...and one of the greatest things I've read. I really...love this. I wish I could be more helpful...or more articulate.
