Description Native to China during the Late Jurassic (around 160 million years ago), Limusaurus inextricabilis is the first confirmed ceratosaur found in East Asia. Its remains were discovered in the Shishugou Formation of western China's Junggar Basin in 2009.

Unlike its fearsome distant relatives such as Ceratosaurus and Deltadromeus, Limusaurus was a toothless, beaked herbivore. Its arms and fingers were tiny, and probably fairly useless. It measured about 1,7 metres in length. Gastroliths (gizzard stones) were present in its stomach, further supporting the idea that it ate plants. Its lifestyle may have been similar to that of a modern turkey or a pheasant.
