Hm, the problem is, the source engine is not the newest engine, for me it is important to use a engine that is more up2date. I think the unreal development kit is one of the best engines for private use, because it is a up2date engine and have no limits, only when you will make money with your project you must buy a license. I self use Unity3D, here are some features limited in the free version, but no important stuff, it is up2date too and 3.0 comes this summer and the full version is not too expensive.
A hobby project needs much time and i think it is wasted time when you learn to work with an engine and later a other engine too, while the first is too old and limited for your project and when i see your pictures from your project, the engine is too limited.

gMod is a good platform for learning the techniques.
Either that, or print fabric. And that is prohibitively expensive to do with uniforms.

True, when you can use all the techniques in a actual engine. Also techniques continue to evolve and changes over the years.

Yes its the source Engine and the Game could be Garrysmod or Counterstrike Source.
