I'd want this.

Best medal to me, but I just love orbital drops from Warhammer 40k, Starship Troopers, and Halo. Let me ask you this: what if you use a freefall escape pod from your units’ “sinking” ship to insert into the front lines or even the falling ship itself, does that count for the medal?

If you land right in the midst of the battle and participate (and survive), then yes. All such instances are examined, and proper honors are awarded.
If you drop in unarmed and unarmored, not likely.
If you grab an enemy weapon and start blasting, then maybe.
Would people on a life boat be awarded for participating in an amphibious assault?
Would the pilot of a downed plane be awarded for airborne operations?

Getting awards in the states or many other nations can be tricky, as you could get a awards by proxy or miss out by criteria. Using a amphibious life boat as assault craft seems a little false flag to me that is why I asked about a aerospace life boat I.e. To use amphibious life boats to deliver troops or as gunboats as the enemy could try to offer assistance just to get gun down. Those that use a life boat for what it was meant for do not meet the criteria for amphibious assault. The pilot of the down plane would only be awarded for airborne operations if they done the job before they where downed… That may just be me being a hard ass, but the pilot will receive their award at the end of the tour without “knowing” before hand. Bahaha
