Description A beautiful sunset that I was fortunate to shoot last summer. This is an image I've been holding onto, waiting until I got a proper version of PS so I could blend a couple of images together. This was my first attempt at a manual blend and I'm pretty thrilled with the results. I was able bring in the solid boat from one image with a quick enough shutter not to blur the motion, and blend it with another image that was more properly exposed for the foreground. Anyway here are the results.

Thanks to for the blending tutorial.

Love the atmosphere and the boat near the horizon. It really adds to the image as my eye is constantly drawn to that point. Great work!

Niiice man. Great contrast. Great job on the blending. Doesn't look HDRish at all. Which is a good thing.

We should get together next time im in SLC. I need to stop by Pictureline anyway...

Thanks, yah, I'm not really liking the softness of HDR shots, i've got GND filters so hopefully I won't be blending much either. I don't like sitting in front of a computer when I know I can get the exposure correct in the field. This was was perfect because I could bring the boat into the correct frame.

I'd love to meet up and shoot sometime, when are you planning on coming down?

Not sure when I'll be coming down. Since Winter is here and all, I'll most likely be staying close to home. If I know in advance that I am heading that way I will send you a message.

Dude this is the definition of serene. I haven't seen an image this week that screams that as loud as this one. Very very very well done.

Not at this location where about is it? I have shot along the lake in Layton and the old saltair. I have tried to shoot at antelope island but never have any luck

this wasn't far from the Saltair. Antelope Island you're really relying on the weather to give you some good conditions, for some reason I've had great luck out there with wild-life. I love Antelope Island.
