Description
As Akihiko would grow older, he would steadily become stronger and grow more experienced in battle.
He has earned many scars over the years, each one holding a different story from a different mission.
His reputation as the drop out of his class would quickly be erased by an even worse reputation,
a reputation caused by his incredibly short temper, harsh language, and his habit of getting into fights.
He would begin collecting rivals during this time, some of which included Mugon, Kaito, Ryota, and Tarou himself!
But he would also strengthen his bonds with his close friends Miki, Enkou, and Ryota, as well as make a few others.
However, this was a troubling age for Akihiko, one where he struggled against himself with his obsession for strength,
and his hatred of defeat. The breaking point for Akihiko was seeing his adoptive father die in battle,
which ultimately shattered his falsely built up vision of strength for himself when he realized, he really wasn't.
Sure he was one of the greatest fighters he had ever known, but what was strength really?
If he couldn't protect the people he loved (even if he'd never admit it), what was the point of the strength he had?
On top of this, he was named the Akarikage - A massive responsibility - without a lot of choice or say in the matter,
which brought a lot of pressure on him to do what is right, and to be a more knowledgeable, better person.
The pressure would eventually lead to Akihiko leaving the village for two years, a very controversial action at the time.
While some felt sorry for Akihiko's loss, worried for his safety and awaited his return with gifts and greetings,
others spoke negatively of his leaving, and condemned him for it - going so far as to wish he would never return.
Eventually, two years after his Departure from Tōrōgakure - he returned home, a new man - a reborn man. Having spent a lot of time speaking with villagers outside of Tōrōgakure, he's drastically improved his people skills,
and become somewhat friendlier - but don't be surprised at the odd insult or remark, he is still Akihiko after all.
With his initial insecurities gone, Akihiko has accepted his weaknesses and given up on the pursuit of being 'The Best,'
becoming somewhat humble and more interested in teaching others - or learning from them - than showing them up.
But new insecurities have arisen with the pressure of responsibility as head of a village - but he is not scared, only nervous.
As well, Having realized his real source of strength - he's reduced the amount of training he does to allow for other things.
Though he can still be found in the graveyard training on the water before Narukami falls everyday at sunset,
he fills more time than he used to with other hobbies, like fishing, eating spicy foods, playing the shakuhachi,
or spending time with his friends. Nowadays, Akihiko is more the type to initiate conversation than to wait for one,
but he still has his limits - and enjoys peace and quiet alone, often napping under a tree or lingering in the graveyard.
Notable Bonds of Akihiko's during this time:
- Miki Yamita: One of Akihiko's first friends, and only female friend. Over the years, the two would become closer.
Often getting stuck working together, as both preferred close range while Mugon preferred to keep back.
Miki Yamita is one of the few girls Akihiko would acknowledge as his equal in terms of strength, and his only female friend.
- Mugon Uranami: From the first day they met, Akihiko has hated Mugon more than anything - And it didn't stop there!
Akihiko and Mugon's rivalry only got worse with age as their clashes became so severe that Akihiko would start fights in the street.
One day things got out of hand and the two attempted to use B-Rank Techniques on each other, to which Tarou intervened.
While this stopped the fighting within the village, the two would still egg each other on while doing missions together.
- Enkou Akiyama: Another friend of Akihiko's, the two shared a love of eating and would often hang out together.
Enkou is one of Akihiko's friends who truly understands him, likely due to their almost identical beginnings.
As they grew older, their talks would become less fun and games, and more serious - Especially when about their parents,
whom the two boys knew very little about. Although Enkou had his adoptive parents, Akihiko's had hidden his records,
leaving his previous name (he was renamed by Tarou), and his parents names a complete mystery...
- Ryota Hitoyo: A rival of Akihiko's, the two shared a love of fighting and often sparred together.
Ryota was the only one who would fight at his fullest against Akihiko, which earned him a lot of respect.
The two used wind - though very differently - Making battles between them devastating to anything caught in the blast!
- Kaito Ryouichi: Akihiko's very first friend, a brother of the orphanage whom he spent his days with.
At age five however, when he was adopted by Tarou - A rift surged between the two, leading to an intense rivalry.
As they got older, their rivalry became more intense! Eventually, they fought in the Chūnin exam (Akihiko won),
a fight that was fueled by passion - But ended with a firm fixing of what was close to a broken friendship.
Since the fight, their rivalry took on a more friendly nature - Though they still spoke often with their fists!
- Kei Haru: Another friend of Akihiko's, they played together a lot at the orphanage but grew apart when he left.
Akihiko also fought Kei in the Chūnin exam, crippling his arm with a wind technique in the outcome of the fight. However,
in a show of good sportsmanship, Akihiko helped him up and promised they would rematch one day - Kei passed on that though.
- Kaname Chouyou: Akihiko and Kaname have an interesting Relationship, one Akihiko himself doesn't quite understand.
- Kazue Kitsune: Akihiko and Kazue grew up in the same compound, she often found him training and offered him food.
Though Akihiko would never admit it, he appreciated her sisterly affection - Even if her cooking was a bit sweet for his liking.
- Yuki Kitsune: Akihiko's Adoptive brother - Yuki used to spy on Akihiko frequently and took great interest in him.
Though Akihiko would never admit it, he appreciated him and looked out for him as best as he could, with tough love.
- Raiha Kitsune: Akihiko's Adoptive sister - Raiha had more in common with Akihiko, so they got a long better than him and Yuki.
Though Akihiko would never admit it, he appreciated having a sister and looked out for her as best as he could, with tough love.
- Hikari Kitsune: Akihiko's Adoptive mother - Hikari always treated Akihiko as her first son, even if he wasn't blood related.
Though Akihiko would never admit it, he has always appreciated his mother's affections and will never forget what she's done.
- Tarou Kitsune: Akihiko's Adoptive father - They had a very intensive relationship comparable to a game of Cat and Mouse.
Tarou took great interest in Akihiko, who was his oldest (and strongest) child - Often spying on his training or following him.
He also frequently pushed other children to play with him, and pushed girls to try and go out with him (Gently, of course).
Though Akihiko seldom took him seriously, Tarou imparted many great words of wisdom and life lessons to Akihiko,
though most of them would not sink in until later in his life - Tarou always loved Akihiko, and is respected greatly by Akihiko.
