Working away on the next paper senshi! I have NO idea what I'm going to do for a simplistic background like the other two.. any suggestions? It would feel weird just having her floating in space.. /0_0\Β©2014 Tracy Blankenship

For the background you could also take a look at the animated series and take inspiration from the background that appears whenever Sailor Mars posed after transforming. Can't wait to see this when it's finished!

You could do three parts of flames in the background composed of three different colors, like a small flame of yellow at the bottom, a taller orange one above that, and then a red one above that. I think that'd fit

YES!Β So excited to see the full thing!Β And I like the idea of pulling in the shrine with cherry blossom petals in the background, but I also don't think it would look too strange to have her floating on the blue starry background if you want them all to match!Β Her face and hair are just wonderful, and I love all your subtle shading!

gosh! thank you so much! >~< Β i agree about the shrine and the cherry blossom petals, but i do wonder if that would make her look too out of place with the other ones? the biggest conundrum i have is that venus is flying through the stars on her love-me chain and sailor moon is hanging out on her, well, moon. but mars is just floating in space!

As far as the background, you might want to do a lighter colour so her dark hair stands out -- it worked well having the blonde Venus on a darker background. You could do stars again, or maybe clouds, or leaves (green or autumn), or cherry blossom petals since she works in a shrine.
Your paper art is so beautiful! I love all the subtly reddened spots on her skin.

good point about using a lighter background to make mars' raven hair pop! and another good point about bringing her shrine into the piece -- especially since her chanting is so much a part of her signature powers!
